Probably manage better ticket sales too. Sequels within an established universe do even better than the original.

That weird George Wallace soft-reboot of the civil war that was tried in the 60s was just stupid.

For as much as it'd be pretty awful, it definitely would be super entertaining. Mainstream democrats wouldn't have the guts for it, but you never know what time brings

You would think so but they are getting as close as they can to it.

A lot of Republicans are all traitors. Republicans are enemies of humanity and should be treated as such. Republicans proved they have no souls and must be kept out of power at all costs.

If it were just a few people I'd just pass it off as just a few crazys, but it's looking like the prevailing opinion in a pretty active thread.
I wonder what it says about how things have been going that most of that sounds like business as usual? Like I remember seeing people say things like that almost a year ago. It kinda loses impact when people say it over and over.

True enough.

But it always sends chills down my spine when I think about "what if they actually believe what they are saying?".

Years ago I thought it was just exaggeration and internet jerks. But after this long I have to consider that a decent chunk of them mean everything they say and genuinely hate and despise the other half of the country and make threads on how they can "fix" the fact that other people exist and don't agree with them.

It's terrifying.

That gets back to my point about why the situation is unsustainable.

Hate and “it would be better if the other side was six feet under” sentiment builds when political and cultural differences have reached a point of being irreconcilable.

At this point, I would not be surprised if there was a civil war.

Not now or next year-but within the century for sure.

Oh don't get me wrong some of them almost definitely actually think that for one reason or another. However ultimately most people aren't willing to risk their own comfort to actually do anything well and truly major. So sure they'll bellyache online and maybe get out to vote but in the end that's about as much personal discomfort as they're willing to put themselves in. Which mind you doesn't prevent them from trying to mess with people's lives from online but it limits what they can actually do.

Maybe if the US goes into a major economic downturn out of nowhere coupled with a major spike in both the amount and intensity of violence but otherwise you guys should probably be fine. A country needs to be in truly dire stats for civil war to break out and as far as I can tell you're nowhere near there yet.

As I said, it will probably be some decades away.

It would be shocking if it began before 2050.

Trying to predict what's going to happen that far into the future rarely works out, there's too much room for something to happen out of nowhere and upend everything or for things to slowly change until it's unrecognizable from today. Hell, even trying to predict what's going to happen a few years out is hard. How many people would have guessed that Trump would be elected president and the UK would leave the EU some 7 years ago?

I’m sure it wasn’t nobody.

You can always find some commentator amidst the noise that got it on the money.

The tensions that led up to Trump and Brexit had been developing for decades

I didn't know China had a viral outbreak and the wall would be built either.

Sure there's probably someone out there who made a random prediction and got lucky but in the majority of cases you just have people making a prediction and getting it wrong, sometimes hilariously so (it's why going over predictions of the future is funny to do). Like sure you had tensions in the EU, there's always going to be some amount of tension in organizations like that, but them getting so bad that the UK would just up and leave? That's a more recent thing.

Or my favorite “Republicans/Conservatives are all old people and I can’t wait until they die and we take charge”

Ignoring the fact not all republicans are over sixty five, the implicit malice in this statement is unmistakable.
The newest generation of voters is actually more right leaning then the previous from what I have gathered.
GEN Z are considered the stupid generation by millennials when they are the generation willing to go out and work for thier college, work for thier money. Not get it given to them for freee

@FriedCFour yo can you post some of your "So when you starting the revolution huh" meme's from the discord, i never had a chance to save any
As an infantry officer with all the top equipment learning how best to annihilate the enemy with minimal casualties, I am afraid I am just too busy living it. Fighting communist revolutionaries would just be too much of a cakewalk.

I always find it funny how online communists talk a lot about revolution when spending time out doors would likely be too hard for them.

Tell me that most modern socialists you meet could live in the desert and also keep their AK-47 in top condition?

Or handle the drudgery and intensity of political education classes that communist guerrillas spent 80% of the free time in?

Oh tour an infantry officer? You poor sap. My MOS deals with yall a lot.

But with my MOS sadly I could not do my job in a civil war. Legality issues and all

Very few if any could

I have sincere doubts most of them could do what we do. We live like homeless people and we train hard to be able to carry the fight. Larpers in black bloc stand less chance against us than any enemy America has ever fought. And the Infantry, the combat arms? Virtually universally right leaning at the very least. Extremely unlikely to side with communists. They would be absolutely annihilated.
