Sweeney's the guy that got crushed by some random trucker with a Facebook page and $153 worth of campaign expenses, right?

That's the one! Which is even more hilarious given what happened in 2017 with "Most expensive campaign for a state legislature seat in American history."

Also, the two assemblymen for the district (the deputy speaker/chairman of the appropriations committee and the chair of the law and public safety committee) are both also out. And the former had been in there for 20 years as well.

Now, I don't live in their district but it's the next town over (actually it's literally around the block from me), so I'm quite enjoying this.

And yes I know New Jersey isn't New York and all but who are you kidding at this point.

No, I think that probably played a role; however, Murphy could at least blame Cuomo for being the “brains” behind this Good Idea.

It’s much like Virginia: The economy, COVID fatigue, and education, with the added bonus of sky-high taxes that hit the middle class. But New Jersey still has more deep-blue bastions (thanks to still-strong political machines), so it is still an uphill fight. But I think Cittarelli should at least ask for a recount, and we will have to see what happens in the next few years.

Speaking of which, this has also almost certainly destroyed Sweeney’s chances of becoming governor in 2025.

Looks like no one is actually sure how the Latino vote went... Though both sides are proclaiming they got moar of it.

Remember that one NJ Senate race pitting Edward Durr, a Republican truck driver who spent $153 out of a $10,000 campaign budget (almost half of it on treating his staff to Dunkin Donuts), against the incumbent Democrat Senate president Stephen Sweeney, who's been a State Senator for almost 20 years (the last 10 of which were as the Senate President) & won his last re-election in 2017 with the most expensive campaign in US history? The media is officially calling it for Durr now.

Great to hear, we need more regular people in political positions.

Big question is will the NJ Dems be pressured to have an African American nominee for the Governorship in 2025 ?: Either LG Sheila Oliver (D) or United States Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) could be great choices.
