I'm hearing the Virginia guy is refusing to coincide now. Waiting till all the Fairfax county votes are counted apparently.

The same one that stopped counting at 8 I believe. And whos officials said that it would look like the republican was winning until they finished counting and the democrat would win.

Just like the various places in 2020.

I'm hoping the results were so lopsided that they can't fraud their way to victory.

Looks like this might be their go to in close races from now on. The bluest areas pausing the count so they can figure out how many mail-in ballots they need and then getting them dropped off after the deadline.

I'm going to fucking lose my shit if they do that.

I'm surprised NJ is this close.

I am as well, to some degree, but OTOH, Murphy telling people who care about taxes that NJ isn't our state was a huge mistake. NJ has the worst tax burden in the country, and once the SALT deduction was killed, it meant people here had to wake up to just how insane it actually is.

And before anyone asks, of course I voted.

Haha this is amazing. Sweeney's district surrounds mine (gerrymandering is a Republican only thing what?) and he's been there forever. Even while Murphy was in trouble I *never* expected to see Sweeney in a competitive race (as of this writing it hasn't been called).

Without America First. The Republican party is nothing but a bunch of sleepy buffoons, moral cowards and high minded idiots led around by controlled opposition managing America's decline when they should be ripping the rot out and pushing for an imperial restoration.

There is no GOP Without Trump or his chosen successor.

Well. This is certainly a take. It's also completely wrong.

The *Democrats* were the one pushing to tie the Republican candidates to Trump and his agenda. Youngkin and Cittarelli, on the other hand, kept him at arm's length, focusing on what issues the voters in Virginia and New Jersey care about, as well as misgovernment by Northam and Murphy.

THAT is what put Trump over the top in 2016 despite people massively hating him personally. It's also what Trump FAILED to do in 2020, instead making it about him personally instead of what he accomplished.

And now it's what Youngkin and Cittarelli have done to great effect.

As a final note, America, despite your beliefs, is not a monarchy. There is no such thing as "an imperial restoration" or "reinstatement clause."

You don't need to include such statements to convince us you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. We already know.

Good Morning Sietch family. My personal thoughts on last night's results:

1.) Congratulations to Glenn Youngkin (R) on becoming the 74th Governor of VA from January 15th, 2022 to January 17th, 2026. You can bet he's likely a national rising star in the future.

2.) Congratulations to State Rep. Jason Miyares (R-Virginia Beach) on becoming the first Latino to hold statewide office. He'll also become a rising star in the future too (watch out Kaine (2024) & Warner in 2026).

3.) Congratulations to former State Rep. Winsome Sears (R-Stephenson) on making history: the first female VA Lieutenant Governor, the second female to hold statewide office, the third African American to win statewide office.

4.) The backlash against the VA Dems was inevitable & I saw it coming weeks ago. It also didn't help that McAuliffe ran the WORST campaign in history.

5.) How will the VA Dems recover from this ass-kicking ?

And yet every time you open your proverbial mouth what comes out is the brain damaged cope of a fool who lives in a fantasy because it's easier to admit your country is one more stolen election and one more false flag away from being Venezuela.

Give it up clown, you are wrong and the America you think exists hasn't for half a century.

I'd caution reading too much into this, McAuliffe lost by a solid margin, yes, but in part that's because he ran an awful campaign that's primary message was incessantly screaming about Trump, and doubled down on that when Youngkin stastarted gaining. A Democrat capable of running an actual campaign wouldn't have done that.

On the other hand, given that everyone from McAuliffe to Biden had no message aside from "Youngkin is Trump 3.0" and never attempted any sort of course correction, it may be that after the last 4 years they're just not capable of making any other arguments.

Anyone else from the Garden State, who can give us more insight into the 2021 NJ elections ?

What's this I'm hearing about NJ State Senate President Sweeney losing ?

He's currently up 52-48. He didn't actually lose (yet, anyway), but his wins are generally big because traditionally, the heavily populated areas in the district lean Democrat. So much so that the results are basically called early because it's expected. A retraction had to be issued because it became clear that "Oh shit, this is actually a competitive race." This in an area where Democrats traditionally had a 2-1 voter advantage.

However, what used to be extremely rural areas have been growing in size, and they generally are socially moderate but fiscally conservative -they are mainly bedroom communities, so any taxes to pay for services hit the residents because, with only a couple of exceptions, there aren't any business/industrial centers for them to tax instead. And a lot of the residents are more of a suburban bent -they don't want any radical changes from either side; they just want to live, work, and worship in peace, without paying through the ass for things that send money elsewhere to be wasted.

Cittarelli has tapped into that, and while I got hints that something might be brewing, there wasn't anything like the obvious dissatisfaction that existed when Christie booted out Corzine.

Also, Sweeney's district tends to be extremely well-funded; his 2017 campaign actually set the record for "most expensive state legislative district race" in American history.

So, stay tuned.
