2020 Dem. Primary: Biden His Time?

Can somebody explain how Elizabeth Warren still has a career, let alone popularity? Her faking Native ancestry should have been a death knell for it, yet seemingly she's still around and kicking.

I take amusement that people think she won't be destroyed by Trump over it.

Don’t you know she had a DNA test!?

I have the same amount (or somewhat more) of Asian blood she has of Native American, so I guess that means a blonde and blue eyed person should be getting to check the Asian American box on forms.... My grandfather was even born in continental Asia! I wonder if one of her grandfathers was born in an indigenous nation, hmmm... I might be more of a minority than she is.

I guess the main difference between me and Warren is that I am a decent person.

The excuse I most often hear is "Well, it was just a story she told a few people based on something her parents told her, it's not like she used it to get ahead or anything.".

Of course, as people dig it's come out that she did use it to get ahead. But since none of the networks aside from Fox will run the story nobody really knows about it.

Biden has a serious problem, because this thing with the so-called whistleblower that’s been in the news? That doesn’t hurt Trump.

There is audio of Biden bragging that he blackmailed the Ukrainians into firing a prosecutor that was investigating his son by refusing to release a billion dollars that the US had earmarked for them unless they let him pick the new prosecutor.

That doesn’t even touch on the absurd salary he got for one of his kids from a Chinese company as a ‘consultant’ who knew nothing about what he was supposedly consulting about.

Since the media never reports on things that embarrass Democrats, the story isn’t widely known, but if they go after Trump on this, everyone defending him will drag what Biden did into the light. Hypocrisy might not stick to Democrats, but that level of corruption sure will.

Simple; because the only people who actually care about that sort of thing, and have the power to destroy her, find her more useful as she is. The moment they no longer do, they will turn on her in an instant.

Come on my dude, you can't just say all that and leave us without the sauce.

If I could remember where it was, I would drop the link, but this story has been out there for at least 5 months. Biden was addressing the Foreign something something when he said it, but I can’t remember that far back.

Edit: This isn’t where I read it first, but here’s a Hill story covering it.

If you're looking for the audio this video has it at 1:18. I'm actually somewhat surprised this has been getting brought up, I'd heard about it a few months ago and didn't think anything was going to come of this story.

The media reported it once, and then immediately buried it. They simply do not report things that make Democrats look bad.

Now of course, the idiots have bought into this whistleblower thing completely, so they are bringing it up again. I wonder how many of them don’t even know that Biden is guilty as sin?

I honestly think your a better person then Warren is.

I am very proud that student loans available to anyone was the only govt help I ever got and I am presently paying them back. No food stamps, no welfare, no subsidized housing or utility bills, no extra time on a test in college because of a disability letter, no privileged status claimed on admission to anything; I made absolutely sure I would be treated exactly like any other healthy white woman and didn’t ask for anything I couldn’t repay.

I think Warren’s native ancestry chicanery should disqualify her from office for gross moral failings.

Whereas I receive a lot of government help (food stamps, disability, Medicaid/Medicare, et cetera), but try to give back to the community in other ways. Like, for example, volunteering to help hand out food to the homeless every Monday. The important thing, I think, is to at least make sure you're not a total leech.

I am glad you do return those efforts, and I don’t oppose support for people in your position. A nominal honorium of a job should through government stamp programs make life comfortable for people. I am always intensely impressed by the mentally disabled people who work as janitors under a special program where I work. They bring enormous effort, bright smiles and enormous cheerfulness to their jobs and sincerely get to know they are doing something important.

Career is because Massachussets native population is miniscule, especially as a percent of state population and 'limousine liberals' have no impetus to pretend to care about such a small voting block. Her popularity...Is honestly much the same story, I suspect. With added salt & pepper of Biden being a ho-hum candidate while Bernie's radical enough (and has more prominent historical baggage re; USSR, Venezuela, Cuba, etc) to put people off more generally.

Which, to bounce off that...Warren still looks to be rising--even taking the 'lead' from Biden in Iowa, New Hampshire, and one recent national poll (albeit within MoE on all of them). Which, to be as neutral as I can be, is a hell of a comeback/underdog story because lady was polling 3-5% alongside every other third-tier candidate closer to the beginning of the year.

In other news--unless some serious psychic goodwill can make an upset happen for Marianne Williamson in the polls, it looks like the October debate is going to be an even dozen people, with Tulsi Gabbard as the latest one to make the cut. Also arriving all new, fresh and shiny from announcing his candidacy in July and me utterly having no idea who he is will be Tom Steyer. Who...Is a candidate? I would honestly have to internet-search the dude to know anything about him (and that's cheating), so...name recognition might be a concern for him. In any case, I can only imagine that Warren is going to be the target of opportunity for folks instead of Biden if the current trend continues.

Steyer has been spending money like crazy, and has been organizing impeachment movements across the country since Trump won. He built a massive email list from that, and he has been focusing on certain polling goals that are fairly reasonable for someone with unlimited money to reach.

The Walking Dead?

Other than the fact that there's a few 80-year old women too, this is basically the Democrat Party's leadership:

That's not really accurate, though?

Like, there's admittedly the leadership in Congress which is the Pelosi-Schumer pairing that, sure, 'old white folk' would be accurate. But going back a few years people were happy to use the Republican Presidential primary as a showcase of 'up-and-comers', and to apply the same standard this time around the field expands a good bit with folks like Buttigieg (<40), Yang (<45), Castro (45), O'Rourke (<50), and Harris (<55) all playing against the type pretty well (to take the top contenders who aren't Biden, Warren, Sanders).

One could argue those folks are perhaps less relevant or representative since they are polling significantly lower than those top three whereas the Republican 'young blood' last time around was more competitive, but they do exist in a way that young blood in the Central Committee did not.

Then, perhaps expanding from there...There are 'public image' and policy movers-and-shakers who break that mold (sometimes to the consternation of established leadership). With Ocasio-Cortez as a particularly famous example there, and Tim Ryan as perhaps another (even if one who was shut-out from speakership by the old party leadership when he staged a challenge).

Course, how much any of those folks might go on to be influential is debatable. Despite his notable presidential run, Rubio is kind've just a run-of-the-mill senator as I'm aware nowadays, Nikki Haley is out of politics (I think?), and the 'rising star' young-buck of the House Ryan went outta politics as well, so...Leadership sucks and prognosticating the future is hard? :p
