Wait, are they saying Austin himself told his staff not to contact the wider DC gov?

Feel like this thread has been seriously derailed by people posting about house members and forgetting this is about shutdowns and the speaker.
There's been another stop gap bill passed
With MTG threatening to remove Speaker Johnson over it

there is going to be another government shut down.

Quite frankly put we have been having these budget fights over and over again for years now, and the right most defently feels like they have made more then enough concessions and want the left to give which the left never wants to do. Sooner or later the fuck it moment happens.

The chance of it happening with each of these things its low maybe 5% but if those dice get rolled each time...then yeah its going to happen.

Well I think the right is, well, right here. They have conceded repeatedly and left consistently wants to raise spending and call them the bad guys for demanding cuts. Last year we actually got cuts only after Biden played chicken with loan repayments. We do need to cut spending, we tax people at every turn and still can't afford all we're wanting to pay for.

There isn't political support for real cuts, which is why the political will always evaporates at the finish line. How do you convince the public that cuts are necessary? Well, the quickest way is probably to show them the level of taxes needed to fund the obligations in question.
