There's also been a general mobilization of men underway for several days now, and active shelling in that very city from the Ukrainian Army.

IF Putin is going to go all in, now is the time. Zelensky ordered a mobilization of reserves which, in theory, should complete within 72 hours. Hitting too soon would've enabled those reservists to disperse to fight an insurgent war should they be so inclined, while waiting would enable the...

The elite are fleeing in large numbers and Zelensky has been missing for hours. There was also weird military movements around Kiev; wouldn't be surprised if the civilian government has entered collapse and the Army is preparing to step in. As for today's events in general: God grant victory...

So are all the Warhawks in here ready to admit they were wrong now that the Russian invasion has failed to happen? Remember this, everyone else, when the same tired voices start trying to sell you on the "Russian threat" again.

Which I would've hoped would make a fair amount of "Right Wingers" in here skeptical enough of the current Anti-Russia atmosphere but no, they prove to remain sheep and get sucked right back into Neocon thinking with the right rhetoric. Seriously guys, stop and realize who exactly you are...

Outside of the media claiming it, there hasn't been any corroborating information and they are holding larger exercises in Belarus; training accidents are rather common, so it could also be a small supply for that purpose that has been blown out of proportion. Certainly the Ukrainians themselves...

I'm pretty well convinced at this point there will be no war unless Ukraine escalates in the Donbass-both the LPR and DPR have been saying this for at least a couple of weeks now is their expectation-or NATO does some obvious fuckery with Ukraine, like stationing combat forces or something.

Outright joining Russia I agree, it's why I've not really advocated for annexation beyond suggesting it in a general sense of possible options initially. Granted, given how much changed from April of 2014 to later that year, it's hard to say. KIIS is behind most of the maps I've posted too.

Kinda what I mean; if you look at the city/township data it looks like Ukraine is overwhelming Ukrainian speaking and then you look at the specific Russophone data and it dramatically changes pictures. Not counting Surzhyk is also a big red flag:

If, as it is starting to appear, this was a made up crisis, I think the likely culprits are our own security establishment and defense industry interests here in the United States. The Ukrainians have been counter-signalling the current crisis pretty consistently, so I can't blame them for this...

Point of order on the blood supplies: outside of a few media sources claiming it, no evidence has emerged. We have vast amounts of videos, images and testimony to Russian military hardware and troops going West, but none exists of this supposed buildup of medical infrastructure. Entirely...

It's a case of playing with statistics; both maps are derived from the 2001 Census, so if the source of one is in question, both are. When you dig into the data though you see they are counting plurality as majority as well as counting Surzhyk as Ukrainian. In effect, it's a very classic...

I have skepticism over the British claims, but taking it at face value it's not impossible to fold the Donbass structures into a new Ukraine with them serving as a base. If we take the British claims as factual, he's going to need a lot more than just what his party alone can provide to produce...

I doubt that, personally. Everything coming out of Russia and what Western sources are suggesting is just two; a Pro-Moscow entity and probably leaving a rump Western Ukraine as a Pro-NATO entity.
