Trump selling a new version of the Bible is topical, yeah. Pretty genius move on his part, too.Trump is helping sell a Bible with American founding documents added. It's rather topical.
You seem to take offense whenever religion or Christianity in particular are mentioned. I'm sorry about that.
But it comes up sometimes and sometimes that sparks a discussion.
On a site built on free speech it seems odd to keep saying that people are talking too much about something again.
No, I'm not "offended" whenever religion is brought up (though I admit it does annoy me a little when it's randomly brought up in threads that have nothing to do with religion, unlike here).
As I've said before, I'm just mindful of what third-parties, especially people thinking about joining the site, will think of us when they see members either randomly bringing in Bible verses to make points (as in other threads), randomly declare things of being "the Devil's/Satan's work" as a reaction (no, someone being a reprehensible, greedy cunt of a human being doesn't mean they're a fucking Satanist or have made some pact with the Devil smh), and thinking by default other people view things with a theological perspective/frame in mind like they do (which I've seen a few times -- having such a view is fine, but expecting/automatically thinking others to have the same view because of religion is another matter entirely, which I've seen a few times especially when Alphabet Soup stuff is brought up).
We've already got an undeserved stigma of being the "bolt-hole site for Nazis, alt-righters, racists and xenophobes and all that jazz" -- We don't need "batshit crazy Christian fundamentalists" added to that list, too.
It's the same thing when you see commentators on sites like YouTube randomly quoting Bible verses on topics that have nothing to do with religion. You're gonna think that those people are stereotypical "Bible Thumpers" at first glance (and, amusingly enough, they usually are if you look at their profiles/bios).
t;ldr: Optics, people.
