No one honestly thinks this, the goal has always been full subjugation of Ukraine. This doesn't actually change much here though, so it isn't like this some big escalation Russia was always going to do this the only odd thing is it you'd think they'd wait until they finish the conquest of Odessa.
The Goal is and always has been the old Soviet Borders. Putin was quite open about that in Russian TV at the start of the invasion. To Berlin and the Rhine were everywhere on State TV, billboards, radio and newspapers. Even as they Claimed they only wanted Ukraine and Moldava to NATO and the world.

They are free to sail upriver through Romanian waters. We'll sink the assholes! We'd rather dam the river than let Russian boots traverse our territory ever again!

He isn't always wrong, clear objectives during war really help.

America not having clear objectives has fucked us in quite a few conflicts.
He is telling you that it gives the appearance of you shielding your Russian loving, Fifth Column countryman by answering in his place.

It's a public forum, get over it. If you want to have a heart to heart DM Rocinante
I'm trying to give Rocinante the benefit of the doubt and engage him in a constructive way, to see if he has any actual understanding of the concepts he's so opinionated about, or if he's able to learn about them.

Others trying to answer for him adds nothing useful to the exchange.

Yes this definitely is the maximalist goal long term. Short term though it's to get Ukraine and then force Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan back into a single political entity dominated by Russia.

Russian trolls have managed to get Arthur Rehi's Patreon shut down under the pretense of 'supporting hate groups' and for the 'funding weapons or military activity' bit.

Fucking Patreon.

Yeah. Thankfully our donations went through the Rotary Club so Patreon were unable to get their Greedy Russky loving hands on it. Fuck Patreon

Why Russia is the only supporter of a group of nations known as the 'Community for Democracy and the Rights of Nations' I will never know.

Tragically there were four members of this beautiful community not too long ago. Not sure what happened...

I've created my own Community for Democracy and the Rights of Nations. It might not be recognized either, but it's far more recognizable then the other one.
You almost got me. Thought you were actually serious until I saw the second post. I'm looking forward to the coming new maps.

"countries"
Transnistria is not a country. Not even Russia recognizes it as a country. Legally it belongs to Moldova as far as most of the world is concerned.
Council of Europe recognizes it as a Russian occupied territory of Moldova.
> Declared independence 34 years ago
> Defended its borders
> Has a govt that ruled it for 34 years
> UN refused to acknowledge it

This is a country. UN "recognition" is irrelevant.

A Somali warlord with a band of dozen thugs high on weed can declare independence too, but a country that doesn't make.

Not just UN. Every single proper country in the world, Russia itself included as a cherry on top.
After all, it would be awkward to formally recognize a country as independent to then try annex it.
It's yet another Russian landgrab by early style hybrid operation, that's what it is.
