Let me guess, the captain is one Honor Harrington, or Horatio Hornblower. So, one thing I’m considering with that fic I need to write one day, is the relationship between the Clone Troopers and non-clone Republic military personnel, especially in the wake of Order 66. For many of them, given how fast it all happened, as far as they are concerned the Clones essentially went insane and murdered people they’d served alongside for years. Even when the circumstances of Order 66 are explained, that just reinforces the opinion of “flesh and blood battle droids.”
On the ISD Warspite, a refitted Venator class star destroyer and the vessel my story would follow, during Order 66 there was a full blown scuffle between the crew and the ship’s clone battalion that lead to more than a few deaths. Engineering, blasters drawn, forlornly tried to save the life of their Jedi General’s terrified Padawan, whilst non-clone officers were screaming at the clones to stop. Many of these would stay on in the Imperial Navy and be the ship’s older hands: even twenty-three years later, that memory looms large.
Not really, the clones were modified to have an accelerated metabolism, they could be grown ana trained fast, but they would not last long.Could be one of the reasons why the Clones were phased out so quickly in favour of the Stormtrooper. For a good chunk of the newborn Imperial military, I doubt they’d feel very comfortable around these “things” they thought they knew.
And IIRC Kamino bought it during the Clone Wars or they decided to rebel, so they got the wrath of the Empire fall upon them hard.
Between that, other attrition and the need for an expanded military it is likely that the clones were mostly phased out in the next few decades.
