Stuff made in recent decades is meant to wear out quickly or become obsolete quickly so consumers will buy a replacement/upgrade; they're cheap and of poorer quality, so why spend money repairing or trying to repair when it's easier just to buy a new one, even if only for a few months/years?

Older stuff, however, ran on the principle of being repairable to make it last.

Not necessarily.

Tell me, what normally breaks on an LCD screen?

Capacitors, IIRC?

Even if something is easy to repair, most people won't do it and would prefer to buy a new one because it's simpler/easier.

Consumerism over the decades.

Either that or part of the electrode layer in the screen itself which... can't be fixed period.

Capacitors, on the other hand, are an easy fix.

Which most people these days won't try to repair.

My family has the "try to repair" attitude first, and even we sometimes are just like, "eh, fuck it; just buy another one".

To be fair, unless you're lucky enough to be working on something with big capacitors, like a subwoofer, replacing capacitors these days is a major pain in the ass.

Also, that assumes you can non-destructively disassemble the broken item to begin with, which is very iffy with a lot of small electronics.

Ok I have to ask this queston. When did these weird ass nose rings become a thing women thought looked good??? Because they are a big turn off for me.
Daddy issues. it isn't that they look good. it is just telling certain guys around them that they got some major issues. so some guys look for it. they tend to have a lot of other piercings and tattoos as well.

Also typically a sign of feminism or trans-trenderism, which may or may not be related to feminism and Daddy Issues (tm).

Either way, they're a warning sign.
