Star Trek Picard takes on Trump and Brexit

With no war, crime or poverty.
Uhh... only one of those things were stated to have been eradicated in the Federation, and that's poverty. Which does eliminate a lot of lower end crime, but we still saw both crime and war throughout every single Star Trek series. From Harry Mud in TOS, to multiple criminals in TNG ranging from corrupt Admirals to simply greedy collectors, crime still exsisted in the Federation.

And War? WAR? The Federation was literally built on a war (The Earth-Romulan War), it was tempered by war (the Klingon War), shaped by war (the Klingon Cold War), saw constant border conflicts even as the danger of peer powered passed (the Cardassian War) and the entirety of Deep Space Nine revolved around the Star Trek equivalent of World War 2 (The Dominion War).

And if you're JUST limiting this to humans? Well, ok, then yes, war between humans has been eradicated within the Federation and poverty, but again, we see numerous human criminals in Trek, again, Mudd being the most visible, but mobsters and other crimes do frequently occur with humans being the perpetrators.

I think that’s because Picard is such a morally outstanding and memorable character.

Stewart is Picard, but Picard is not Stewart.

Stewart views himself to be as moral as Picard and would be totally against Trump like many other fictional characters

Mostly because they gaslight themselves into seeing Trump and many other wrongthinkers as being something else entirely and put words in their mouths

As others have said and felt, I was initially excited. But then news began to leak out.

Now I'm more morbidly curious.

The Brexit slamming especially irritates me.

Yeah definitely.

Anti communism was sort of default at least in foreign affairs. Which meant anyone talking about it in Hollywood or Academia got pegged as a crazy Mcarthyite or Bircher.

“There are real communists over there, why are you obsessed with colleges and actors”.

TBF, these are Social Democrats, they intend on still making use of the moneymakers.....in a very planned economy

I don’t have any problem appreciating works with leftist themes, authors or emphases, but I would rather not be preached to, in a bland and poor way at that.

I think that they think they’re just amplifying it a bit more than usual alongside strawmanning or making the villains remind you of negative republican stereotypes

A True Trekkie would recognize that Star Trek was ALWAYS about Social Justice or by Leftists

Like how the Founding Fathers and the Anti-Slavery Side of the American Civil War were all Democrats/Leftists

Hey, how else will you divide or destroy longtime fandoms

Even if SJWs are a minority of those who watch, they get diehard fans who are both conveniently of those politics alongside creators onto their side

They are strong and are very present online, they make people feel alone that way

So Patrick Stewart has come out and said that the USA and Great Britain are both “fucked” because of Trump and Brexit respectively and that he is doing the new show to be an anti-Trump and anti-Brexit political statement. Just like just about every damn fantasy or sci-fi show or movie they put out these days, it has a far left agenda. These show business people are all such conformists, all spouting the same message all thinking that they are such brave heroes for repeating the same mindless propaganda that all of their friends are.

At first I was enthusiastic about Picard, but as I’ve learned more about the show that enthusiasm has waned, and what Stewart has recently said killed my enthusiasm completely. I hope that they go broke for getting woke, I only wish that they could have spared soiling one of the my favorite childhood shows doing it.

There was no doubt in my mind that they were going to continue their crusade against Trump and nationalists in this series. That's fine. It'l just encourage the new owners of Star Trek to purge the Abrams dog shit with a flamethrower.

That is going to change soon. What you're seeing is a period of adjustment. It only appears as if they have lots and lots of diehards (and they do have some diehards), but that's only because the Progressive Left has a monopoly on internet platforms. The Right has been adjusting to that reality since 2016 and you can expect it to come to blows in 2020. After that--if Trump keeps the Executive and the Republicans take the House and Senate...guess whose going to get the chop first?

Being a major tech firm in the US today is really just admitting your on the congressional shit list.

Wait, how does the Left keep people out of making stuff like fanfics, fanart and discussing fiction en masse on forums?

Reddit, looks to have been taken over by SJWs

I sorta presume that things like r/libertarian were taken over because the actual Libertarians weren’t active enough in joining
