We'll see.

I'm wondering at Musk's play here. He didn't get enough to just take over unless he's negotiating for support from other stake holders.

I'm curious as well. A lot will depend on Twitter's own internal rules for decision making, and more on unknown factors in the other stockholders It's plausible that there is a free speech bloc among the other shareholders and Musk's purchase took 9% from the censorship bloc and granted it to them, taking them from a minority to a majority group. It's also possible that now he has to play some political horse-trading with several other blocs (There really aren't any individuals with large enough shares to stand next to Musk, even Jack Dorsey's only got 2.5%) and see if he can get a sufficient number of voters with him to get a majority that way.

Musk can probably grant himself a high position in the company, though I doubt he'll go that way as the man lacks the time to do that. More likely there's somebody he has in mind to put in charge of his share votes to carry out whatever he's planning.

I'm a bit surprised Twitter doesn't have a company policy forbidding these people from openly disparaging their largest stockholder, a majority of companies have at least some kind of corporate brain/mouth filter going on. Heck my last job did and it was a family business. Complete smoothbrain move to post all these mean tweets about the guy who's now their boss, but perhaps they just really feel like going back to work for McDonald's instead of continuing to be influential employees at one of the most successful and affluent companies on the planet, one that just saw around a 25% increase in share value due to Musk's involvement.
I'm not; a lot of major corporations, especially those involved in media, don't seem to care about profits at all these days. They're most interested in the power and control their products affords them.

He's been welcomed into the Order.

The fact is he had been "welcomed" pro forma. But we know sure as the sun coming up in the morning, he isn't being welcomed by most of the Twitterati.

Remember the scene at the White House amongst the Obama staffers when Trump showed up to talk with Obama about the transition? They looked like a beaten army who was used to winning seeing the guy who just kicked their ass. I suspect the reaction to Musk will be similar amongst the rank and file.

Already the shadow of oligarchy in the form of Transphobia, Cronyism, Fundamentalism and White Supremacy is creeping into Twitter...

Wait, am I missing something here? Did they really ban or try to censor him in some shape or form, so he said "fuck it" and bought the largest stake as a polite "fuck you"?

If so, that's.. a pretty Chad move. Haha.

Musk will not be joining the board.

Now, before anybody panics, I believe that joining the board would have legally capped him at owning 14.8% of Twitter's shares. Him turning down a seat on the board could mean that he intends to buy more.

Or maybe he just doesn't have the time to sit on meetings.

Not an absolute controlling interest, but I think people are underselling how much 9.2% is, and I don't think people are thinking about how Elon Musk's ownership will affect who owns Twitter.

Elon Musk absolutely has a significant influence over Twitter.

A lot of people are saying that he didn't join the Board because he plans to buy more shares, and if you're on the Board? You're capped at 12.5%.

Musk might just do it purely for the lulz. He's... eccentric, to say the least.
