While the talk was started because of Federal response to the Wu Flu, this is heading towards derail territory, so probably continue the subject on a new thread if it's to be followed further.
I'm sorry but, I disagree with Tim Pool on this one; not about the necessity of protecting our constitutional rights, but that these violent assholes are actually doing that. They're just making the situation worse with their bullheadedness and propensity for violence; they're going to get people killed, again, and give the government another example to point to for why they need to suspend our right to assemble peacefully (temporary, of course). Because clearly, we cannot be trusted with it, if moronic thugs like Aamon Bundy (who, as an aside, believes the Corona virus to be no worse than the flu) are any indication.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to get an inkling that this may come to blows; with those who believe the Cronoa virus is a dire threat on one side, and those who don't on the other, if the developing situation in Idaho is any indication.
Without the willingness and capacity to do violence for an ideal, eventually that ideal will die out.
Treasure and husband your violent nutters, for they are a very scarce and precious resource - the only actual guaranteed catspaws of making the ruling power no matter who they are blink, before things like mass hunger or other such things make everyone else nutters.

Indeed. But most of the times the threat of violence is enough to solve the situation without it actually being exercised to its full capacity.
Thus it is quite important for the other side to believe that you are willing to do it. And for your side as well.

...This is a terrible comparison to make. If the US government was allowing Chinese agents into the US to hunt down, torture, and execute Christians, you'd have an apt comparison.
The Constitution guarantees the right of freedom to peaceably assemble, as well as freedom or religion. Given the actual numbers we're seeing, not the prediction models and the like, it is not unreasonable for people to decide that they get to exercise their constitutional rights regardless of what a given state governor says.
Saying they will respond to force with force gets to being a stickier issue, but as they are not initiating violence, I think a number of people here are over-reacting.
