"Woke" Franchises

It did. At this point, I've given up hope that thing will get better. About the only reason I'm still watching is to see how badly RT is going to screw up and even that's gotten old. I'm probably going to stop watching after this Volume. And I'm with you @Terthna ; as far as I'm concerned, only the first three Volumes matter worth a damn. Anything past that is broad-strokes canon AT BEST.
Actually, I wouldn't even give RWBY that much; for me, only the first two seasons are worth a damn, and even they had problems (I'm still sore about the season 2 opening blue balling me with hints at more of the Malachite twins). I mean look at everything season 3 did; the maidens, ruby's bootleg Sharingan out of nowhere, killing off Penny, killing off Pyrrha, killing off Ozpin (even though that didn't stick), cutting off Yang's arm, Salem, Jaune continuing to be a total failure, et cetera, et cetera. I could literally go on for hours about how damn near everything done in season 3 ruined the series, and I am well aware of how that's only the tip of the iceberg compared to what came during later seasons.

You know what? there's a Youtube video that sums up fairly well how I feel about RWBY these days:

I have no idea what a... 'Sharigan'... is, but I'm assuming you're talking about the Silver Eyes? I do think that the Maidens could have worked if more thought had been put into them- they certainly work better then the Relics do. Same goes for Penny and Pyrrha's deaths if they were used to explore RWBY and JNR's characters more and not just 'these two people who know died, we're sad about that'.

Then again, I think the big problem with the fall of Beacon is how little we got to see of the aftermath and how it affected the characters. Instead we got RNJR on the road and a time skip of ambiguous length in the next Volume.

...you might really like a fanfic I've been writing.

Speaking of Ozpin, I don't get how on our sister sites and FFN, that they think he's somehow morally ambiguous or "gray"
Well, he's not exactly wholly evil or good either. So what else do you call him?

(mind you my current stance is; Ozpin is a mess, Salem is aweful and the Brother Gods can go rot in hell. In short, a plague on all of their houses!)

He's a good guy trying to save the world, but doesn't have the power to win.

As was already pointed out, telling everybody that the enemy is immortal would significantly demoralise them, even then he's not sacrificing others and doing terrible shit for the Greater Good.

You've never watched Naruto; have you?

Saw a few episodes when I was a kid. Never got what the fuss was about. Then again, I had the same reaction to Dragon Ball Z growing up. Or as I called it back then 'That Show With a Bunch Of Weird-Looking Guys that Glow And Scream At Each Other'.

Yes, he's caught in quite the sticky situation. Of course, I could bitch for quite a bit about how much I hate Salem's particular brand of immortality and how stupid she's being.

Honestly, I think she could have flooded the world with Grimm who knows how many lifetimes ago, should have given a reason for not doing that, like actual limitations

The guys doing RWBY right now don't even have Tite Kubo's excuse for bad writing or just admitting to coming up with things along the way

Honestly, I just go with the idea that there's a limit on how many Grimm can exist at once- as in there's a hard-cap of how many Grimm the pools can have running.

Also, based on what we've seen in canon, its pretty clear that Salem can't control all the Grimm or even most of them. As if she could, then the whole plot of Volume 3 wouldn't have needed to happen.

Speaking of Sharingan, Masashi Kishimoto’s new work, “Samurai 8” has a “nonbinary” character

Anybody think that to a degree, SJWism is in Japan?

Though honestly the Japanese handle their LGBT characters with much more taste

Appleseed Ex Machina looked okay for the most part. Still a dumb action movie, but it looked okay.

Berserk is a pretty easy one to point at, too, honestly. But something like Appleseed Ex Machina shows it could be done well if they'd stop trying to use animation cell texturing. Of course, the weak point is still animators, and the budget for animation. Man I really wish they hadn't gone CGI with Berserk...

Whose decision is it to use CGI instead of regular, if imperfect animation?
