So the DNC is broke isn't it?
For now.
But you need to know what that does and does not mean.
It probably means they can't take the Executive.
It means they can still retain the House.
It means they can still take the Senate.
It means that they can still lose in all three governments.
The problem is one of outdated politics.
The RNC went first, because the RNC was the worst offender. The US electoral was already favoring domestic candidates for decades before then. The US was moving towards a more isolated position, not a more open one. After the anger and fear from 9/11 wore off and the annoyance with the Bush Administration began to set in, the Neo-Cons were basically discredited and that was a massive blow to the Republicans.
That left it to the Democrats to try and fix the problems the Republicans had made. The problem is that the DNC is composed of voting blocs, who like the RNC, have major single issues they care about more than anything else. Unlike the RNC however, those voting blocs in the DNC have conflicting problems. So everyone LOVED Obama, but the actual party could not make all of his policies work. The RNC voter base is smaller, but it has fewer conflicts, fewer fights, and they all show up to vote. The DNC is larger and when they're all riled up, they swarm the RNC with sheer mass. When that charismatic leader isn't present though, people aren't excited and they don't show up.
The problem here is worse for the DNC on the 2020 General, because the DNC itself has broken into factions. You have the moderates like Biden, who has a lot of power via moderates and independents. He and Harris are the more moderate Dems economically, but who want more social reforms. Minority rights, gender rights, health programs, and open borders. Opposing these two are the far left candidates like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, who want an all-out socialist approach.
What I notice about both groups though, is that they're going after the socialist progressives. Which tells me it's the more moderate socialist-capitalists (Biden/Harris) going head-to-head with the full socialists (Sanders/Warren) for the progressive vote. And if that's the deciding factor, I see problems.
- Biden -- Is an old, white, straight-male. Those are three reasons why Progressives won't like him. To add to it, Booker and Harris have been taking shots at him to discredit them in their eyes. They've done a half-decent job.
- Sanders -- Is an old, white, straight-male. Those are also three reasons why Progressives won't like him. Most moderates won't like him because a) he's a stuttering moron, b) he supported the means in which Venezuala ruined itself, and c) he's a self-proclaimed enemy of the rich and wealthy while he hordes his millions in his three large estates from his book deal.
- Harris -- Is more a social realist than Biden is and she might piss off the moderates by leaning too far for her progressive crowd. The socialists will probably hate her, because she's smart enough to know she needs moderate voters to go for her.
- Warren -- Is old, white, and falsely claimed to be Native American. Which is a cardinal sin for a Progressive. On the other hand, she is also offering them free shit. Then again, she's eerily like Hillary Clinton.
No matter which way you go, you piss off one or two of the three major groups vying for power within the party. The social progressives are the core of the party right now. Not the SJWs, but those who want racial and social equality. Feminist, single mothers, LGBT, Black voters, Latinas, ect.
I don't see how this works out well. I think Harris is their best chance.
