Frankly I'd just convert the standard AC-10 plants into LBX-10 plants, both guns and ammo
I agree, LB-10 X is the master race of the autocannons, accept no substitutes. Imagine, once Weber gets export authorization, just how many guns and ammo he will be able to sell to the Federated Suns.

FS representative: ''I would like to buy all LB-X guns and ammo you have.''
CA representative: ''Very well, if you would...''
FS rep.: ''Just a moment please. I fear you might have understood what I said as that we would like to buy a lot of LB-X guns and ammo. However my superiors gave me explicit instructions that I must make it clear that Department of Quartermaster wants to buy ALL the LB-X guns and ammo.''

Frankly I'd just convert the standard AC-10 plants into LBX-10 plants, both guns and ammo. The benefits of the LBX even without the advanced neuro helmet are so massive that the vanilla 10 is hot garbage next to it. It isn't like the LC is going to run out of plants making regular 10's and ammo for them anywhere else, anyway. Catachan needs an in house heavy that would be able to take full advantage of the LBX-10.

CATACHAN NEEDS A MARAUDER LINE!

The MAD-2T is probably the best refit of the design ever, outside of the Marik LL conversion. Add on a 300XL, Endo Steel and Ferro Fib armor and this is basically a 75 ton assault mech. Swap the AC5 for an LBX-10 with the weight savings and it's pretty much the most terrifying heavy in the inner sphere until the furries show up. The only problem I foresee is getting the license for the design from GM, but then Julia and Jr will need a wedding present and her family has deep pockets.
alas the CAC is bound by a agreement with olvetti to not compete in the heavy mech market for I think 50 years in exchange for Olvetti not competing in the medium mech market

Olivetti needs a Marauder line then. It really is the pinnacle of Heavy Mechs and would be an absolute shit kicker.

Great chapter, I really liked the discussion with McCready, although I'm wondering what the distinction in BT is between a Count and a Baron? I
Really looking forward to the attackers landing in the middle of the forest :)

And probably at least his XO as well
No probably about it. The only way a fiasco as bad as what was described in the chapter happens is if every officer from company commanders up was at the very least failing to do their duty and possibly even actively making things worse.

Though without direct evidence of malfeasance or treachery she’s likely to have to settle for relieving them for cause and sending them somewhere unpleasant to count penguins for the rest of their careers.
That sounds odd, being relieved for cause would generally be followed by either a discharge/resignation or trial. If Katrina can't get rid of officers that demonstrably incompetent or worse the LCAF are in much worse condition than I assumed.

the lyrans already have 2 companies making the marauder. Bowie and Defiance.
So what you're telling me is they could use a few more lines. I agree.

Unless Olivetti wants to resurrect an old design from the FS and start making Hammerhands. Which, by the way, would be fucking sick.

I'm guessing making another cluster ammo plant or four is high on the Lyrans to do list
They've probably got one or two sitting around, but they'd need to get them out of mothballs and running again, which is anon-trivial task. I think it's the FWL that has an LB-10X line just sitting there, but doesn't have the components required to feed it..

Good luck getting a license. Also, Olivetti is so heavily financially committed at this point, there one major setback from disaster. They need a decade to pay off some loans before they even think about making another new 'Mech.

No, really, before Katrina got to it the LCAF was that bad. The Social Generals had/have way too much influence, and the whose thing with Lockheed CBM hasn't resolved yet. After that Katrina will finally have put the kibosh on most of the corruption.
don't be that harsh you can make them decent with lostech. and partisans aren't able to go in as much terrain types
Basically the same reason Weber likes the Helepolis. Walking AAA can just get places that tracked can't, just like flying (if briefly) Snipers can get places a normal SPG couldn't dream of.

Partnership with somebody in the Suns might indeed be on the table by the time they're looking at an expansion again. You can bet dollars to donuts that somewhere along the line the Feddies are gonna hear about the upteched Centurion and start looking at putting it back into production (They mothballed the lines when they got the Sabre blueprints from the Commonwealth, so they could theoretically put the upteched version into production fairly easily. They'd just need the components for the upgrade.)

on another note do you want a lostech rifleman design speaker? I have a couple on file I can post either here or in the BQ discord.

I knew it was that bad and worse before she started fixing things, but I thought by this point they were mostly fixed with the main problems being incompetent idiots who hadn't been identified, not that things were still so bad she couldn't even fire someone who so obviously deserved that at a minimum.
