The problem is that with Bee Squishers being so lethargic, the separate companies themselves could become targets of the raids, to get prisoners and salvage. However Phoenixes can outrun the mechs they can't outgun and also many that they outgun.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 3rd Lyrans commander is recalled and whoever takes over becomes significantly more aggressive just because of the embarrassment they currently are feeling for their pathetic performance.

What's going to be funny is when this was done to spread out the Weber's Warriors.

And then like a whole 'pirate' Level IV lands on Catachan and gets fucking wrecked by the wild life.

The Warriors on site are going to be all ready to fight and next thing you know they're getting commhails begging for help. Anti-climatic, but really shoves home the Death World.

Then TharCat will come into being because Katrina has to have a significant chunk of that safety like Hesperus has. I wonder what TharCat would build on Catachan. Maybe one of the lights could be licensed to them.

Does Catachan produce all the bits for the COM-1R?

Everything but the chassis.
At the very least, the commander needs to be cashiered, with prejudice.
This is Katrina Steiner’s LCAF. You may safely presume consequences are a given. Though without direct evidence of malfeasance or treachery she’s likely to have to settle for relieving them for cause and sending them somewhere unpleasant to count penguins for the rest of their careers.

An in house light would be a great addition. What candidates do we have besides the Commando? It's a great mech but slightly limited in role to a striker. The C1H seem to really favor their jumpers, so something with some bounce would be ideal.

alas since the wolfhound isn't yet a thing not much on the lyran light from aside from the commando, firestarter and bug mechs. there is one all but extinct light mech from mountain wolf battlemechs....the Night Hawk but nothing that fits the engines catachan makes other than the commando

Considered them, but they’re already financially committed in the Outworld’s Alliance with the Merlin factory. They’d basically need loans for literally everything and the LyrCom does in fact have a limit to their budget.

I'm pretty sure this story isn't running on hare brained logic where a Panther magically gets to move before a Cicada just because it's 5 tons lighter even thought the Cicada is actually twice as fast. Light mechs have no place in standard tech. The fastest practical mech speeds are most efficiently achieved at 40 or 45 tons and the higher armor limits are more than worth the cost. There is a possible fast scout in the XLFE era, but not with any of the engines Catachan produces. The numbers line up for the 225 XL, but there's just not enough payload for armor and jumpjets and era appropriate weapons without clantech. You need the 270 XL or 315 XL to make the concept really work for the Inner Sphere.

If a light mech doesn't exceed 6/9/6 it's an obsolete deathtrap next to the Phoenix Hawk. If it doesn't jump it's an obsolete deathtrap next to the Drillson Hover Tank. And anything with under 4 tons of armor is just a deathtrap. There's not a lot else.

From what I recall they do eventually rebuild their plant in lyran space in the dark age in canon. That being side perhaps something akin to the spider might work better due to the whole XL 240s being available
