Turkish-backed attack on Armenia by Azerbaijan with formal declaration of War

Those cluster munitions... Amnesty International seemed to confirm that the Azeris have been dropping Israeli made cluster munitions on residential areas in the NK region.

So chances of this giving a good enough excuse for finally pulling the last US nukes from Turkey? I mean if Turkey is going to go all proxy war enough for NATO to be brought into question why not redraw US assets there? Atleast nuclear assets.

Because US military presence in Turkey is "aimed" at Russia, Iran, and Middle East in general. US would loose a lot if Turks were to react by expelling US military presence.

Vladimir Putin made some comments regarding the conflict, including on the implications of their Collective Security Treaty with Armenia.

>>snip<<

So he basically confirmed the area isn't covered by the treaty. I guess Armenian leaders should have thought about possible consequences of distancing themselves from Russia when all their neighbours hate their guts and Russia is their only friend.
But no, that would have actually made sense...

They didn't have lawyer with them advising them?

It appears the Azeri's have struck a Cathedral in the city of Shusha within the disputed Nagorna-Karabakh region. At least ten people were injured, including three journalists. One of the journalists, a Russian, was very seriously wounded insofar that he still might not survive his injuries.

ANNA (an Abkhazian News Outlet) reports that fragments from the partially collapsed Cathedral might indicate it was an aerial bomb, sourced from a NATO country, that was used in the Cathedral attack. This in turn would imply it was a Turkish F-16 that carried out the strike if true.

Russia would do nothing,so ...maybe Armenian should ask Iran for help ? they hate turks, after all.In Syria they practically fight each other.
P.S Poor Armenians - but everybody beliving in Russia would meet with rude awakening.

Turkey has been doing that kind of shit, namely violation of airspace - though without shooty part, for quite a while with Greece. They always get away with it...

Well, to be entirely fair, Greece is basically trying to claim really large exclusive zones with all those islands, which would essentially cut off their coastal routes.

*Looks at the map*

They're entirely landlocked. Who else could they possibly make friends with? Iran? Turkey?

To be fair to Russia, they walk a fine line between both countries, don't wanting to antagonize one or another.
Also, they follow the treaties they have with Armenia to the letter - they have said that they only intervene if the fight occurs in proper Armenian territory.

Kazakhstan is the greatest country in the world and just across the pond!

Kazakhstan is also thick with Turkey, they have joint military procurement, IIRC thermal rifle sights were a joint project of theirs for example.

And speaking of Turkey, it seems helicopter rides are back in fashion, this time with Kurdish farmers...

🤬

Maybe they hoped for some "wiggle room", but in this case they forgot to make sure to talk with Russia beforehand...

Some footage from the ground war.

I’m not going to lie their military is looking really unimpressive.

looks like Azerbaijan using lots of UAV with great effect destroying Armenian anti-air and tanks.

That looks like test footage to me. It doesn’t look like that’s their actual combat use. Not a single tank is actually moving or doing anything at all.
