Looks like Armenia's Prime Minister, Pashinyan, is willing to sign a Peace Treaty with Azerbaijan, one that presumably recognizes the internationally recognized borders of the two countries and thus cedes all of the disputed land of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan.

Riot Police are deployed in Yerevan. Needless to say there are large amounts of protests in response to these reports.

At the same time he invoked Article 4 of the CSTO Treaty, the Alliances Mutual Defense Clause.

So rumors on twitter is that Kazahkstan is going to be leaving the CSTO in 2023, due partly to this conflict and Russia's behavior in Ukraine. Looks like they are cozying up to the CCP instead.

Great to hear! :)

Are the Armenians in N-K going to stay and live under Azerbaijani rule or are they going to be resettled en masse in Armenia?

And another cease fire, a "Humanitarian" one according to the Azeris. The CSTO delegation will be arriving tomorrow to do whatever as well.

Oh no. I very much doubt any of them will be staying. Alive anyways.

The resettlement will be mostly peaceful I reckon though.

Implying that NATO would be interested in that at all. Well, maybe Turkey is, but i wouldn't be sure how humanitarian their intervention would be

One would think that NATO would be pro-human rights, no? Though Turkey might use its veto power to block any NATO intervention, thus necessitating that such intervention be unilateral, similar to Iraq in 2003, with Bush's coalition of the willing.

NATO cared a lot about Kosovo to militarily intervene there in 1999.

Does Erdogan of all people strike you as the Merkel type?

That's another thing. Also Turkey owns the only NATO border to it.

Kosovo is in Europe, and so some members had more direct interest in the region.

He admitted several times more Syrian refugees than Merkel did, so, maybe? But then again, Armenians are Christians whereas Turks are Muslims. And Turks have a rather problematic history with the Armenians, to put it mildly. Turks probably view Syrians more favorably since, unlike Armenians, they were not historically viewed as potential Russian subversives.

And how many of them he punted to Merkel or otherwise exploited for money or political power?
Just because some countries admit refugees out of silly sentiments sometimes doesn't mean that in other cases it can't be driven by genuine self-interested utility.

Long story short, for Erdogan "refugees" don't mean the same thing as to Europe's bleeding hearts. They aren't a pet minority for the government to fawn over in contrast to natives, they are pawns to be played in international political games. That's why most of them don't even get actual refugee status.

After videos showing Armenian troops taking care of wounded Azeri troops and vice versa made the rounds on Social Media... Apparently another video is now making rounds from that conflict zone.

Nancy Pelosi visits the Armenian Genocide Memorial/Monument and after shedding some tears, she called Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia "illegal."

Meanwhile there are also protests in Armenia against the CSTO that even include American flags and banners stating support for "MNNA" for Major non-NATO Ally" in regards to Russia and the CSTO deciding not to do anything in regards to Azeri aggression.

So, this is turning out to be a winning geopolitical move for the US. Allow Russia to ruin its relations with Armenia (and Central Asia, to a lesser extent) and then increase its own influence there at Russia's expense. Brilliant!

To be fair, though, it's not like N-K was easily defensible otherwise. At least, not without Great Power protection. And if one wants to be technical, one could perhaps argue that Armenia's support of N-K is itself a violation of international law because it's internationally recognized as Azerbaijani territory. Which shows that international law doesn't always comport with our own concepts of morality.
There is an argument that the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast and other Soviet Autonomous Oblasts had the legal right to secede just like the Soviet Republics did.
