tbh I think there needs to be a distinction made between Americans meaning basically military personnel, embassy and diplomatic staff, USAID people, etc. and people like @Culsu and @Marduk were talking about earlier - "americans" who are actually afghanis, visit there on vacation etc., and happen to have American citizenship.
While there are probably some disagreements about what "America" and "Americans" mean, anyone who recently went on vacation to afghanistan when it was common knowledge that the Taliban were in control of most of the country months ago and that the puppet government wasn't expected to last more than a year almost certainly sees themselves as afghanis and is not serious or genuine about becoming an American. Gettting all "americans" out would almost certainly involve importing actual Taliban members.

If only there was an airstrip in the Panjshir Valley. It's barely over a hundred miles away from Kabul and flying there could save in time and fuel and other resources and we could drop off all of these brave Afghan males of military age in to continue the fight as well equally courageous journalists to cover the story. 😞
