The Problems of Higher Education

Anyway, both of you know what I meant, but I do appreciate the facetious mockery, it really makes me feel like you respect the inherent injustice of education at the level required for the modern world being gated behind a crippling paywall rather than just simply lashing out at people you disagree with, with whatever cudgel comes to hand.
Its hardly a requirement, and even then most of where it is one is not by any inherent merit. I'm by no means lashing out at you and I'm sincerely sorry you feel that way. My lashing out is at the absolute scam and bullshit that college has become. I also have no idea where you get the idea that I think it costing a fortune is a good thing, I just don't think foisting costs off to the taxpayer is a good fix in the slightest. We should have some level of class solidarity right? It is after all the elite who are our mutual enemy.

No offence, but I think he's filtering you out and REALLY prefers the whole near-mandatory Public School-esque sort of system(College included, because people even businesses are too used to those huge wastes of cash and time)

Frankly, I say again, replace school and college with the Internet, it won't cost both guys who'd usually go to Private Schools and Taxpayers for Public Schools and lot less time is wasted

A "Full Education" probably isn't going to be remembered in-terms of skills, even for guys who went to Private School

You can have the skills of an accountant without going to college by learning online! Same for being an artist or author

I have never heard of a company, first, second, or third hand, that uses psychometric testing, except for a few police departments that have IQ ceilings for applicants. But you're spot on about needing to trim the number of applicants. When I was hiring, it was for laborers, so I'd grab the first suitable candidate. You want a job scraping mold? (Actually, I'm retired from that.) But my son did / does some hiring for a major aerospace firm. He got resumes by the bushel. His first task was to find a reason to toss the resume. That was the only way he could get through them.
It does depend on which country you seek employment in. The UK should have one, India, Australia and so on.

Damn, I never realized that, that you both for informing me that people need to be paid for their work teaching others.

I also understand when someone says free it means they are using their own potential money to give something away or someone else's namely taxpayers for government policies.

I frankly thing private charities or those pay 5000 for a kid’s education would work better

That said, I still say replace school with the internet....people should eventually become cyborgs and have their brains wired to it, so many problems solved, till then I think it will cost a LOT less than paying for loads of schoolbooks and having to travel all the way to a class on times that aren’t so convenient

If an education that most people cannot succeed at or derive any real understanding from is necessary for the modern world, perhaps the problem isn't that we have some mechanism to deter people from failing at the impossible or understanding nothing and wasting four years of their lives, but that the modern world is so deranged that it cannot provide an honest living to someone at a level which gives them dignity regardless of the intelligence and capability with which they were endowed.

Isn’t the point of the education system that while not everybody gets honors or turns out to be geniuses and get A’s in everything, they maybe somehow educated enough to deserve more pay even in jobs that don’t involve needing that much education or skill?

Optional Specialization by way of internet sounds like a better option, better than forcing someone to learn multiple subjects that won’t be useful or can be learned for cheap. Hell, maybe specialization can get a guy to advance through a subject surprisingly quick and learn accounting and investments before the usual elementary school grade

"required", you don't require dick. It's your own aristocratic attitude that's getting in your way, not us.

"Required for the modern world" pffff, pull the other one chief.

God that's funny it's like "but I have to go to college to exist in the modern world" like bruh plumbers and electricians exist.

Go to a trade school, God, the arrogance.

OR LEARN STUFF ONLINE!!! THEY GIVE LESSONS ON ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE ONLINE!!! THEY EVEN TALK ABOUT HOW CELTS SCARED ROMANS JUST BY BEING A FEW INCHES TALLER!!!

Seriously, the internet and by extension digital gadgets, should have replaced much of general education and even books

Hell, go to school, don't buy books, just have all the files ready on your computer. Cheaper than buying loads of books per year

God, "you know what I meant"

Uh, yeah, thats what I said. You say "free college" because it doesn't sound as nice when you say "jack up everyone's taxes to pay for a huge amount of bullshit". It's conscious deception.

God I love this place, where else can I get 4 whole friends to pile onto me all at once?

University degrees get used to artificially restrict access to jobs, which are over applied to due to the ease of applications and the number of people looking to fill such positions.

Oh damn, does this count as 4, 5, or 4.5? I'm not sure how to take it!

Yeah, it turns out that public services cost money, who woulda thunk it!

"Conscious deception", come on now. When you provide something as a public service the cost goes down, so the idea you need to "Jack up everyones taxes" is far more of a conscious deception than anything I've said.

"I want to throw around the word free to manipulate people but will throw a tantrum when I'm called out on it!"

Seriously do you have an argument besides crying? Go ahead and take your time, you're apparently having trouble counting.

Your pretense that the only jobs worth having is pure arrogance. God you must just... despise the lower class.

I saw your post and felt compelled to answer. Sorry for dog piling.

My post is what I understand about the idea of something being free.

Let's say I get free games through my gaming client or free merchandise it is to sacrifice potential money in favor of promoting goodwill and future profit.

For welfare and policies to provide services to the public where the money comes from is through the tax payers.

I agree with what you said about university degrees that is now applied to entry level positions that isn't required to get one.

I mean, I'm Canadian, do you get a deep sense of rage whenever you hear one of use call it free healthcare? The income tax I pay seems to imply I understand the nature of how our services are paid for but go off I guess lol.

Keep psychoanalysing me btw, it's pretty funny. Who else do I despise?

to be fair its a question of weather its a public or private college.

Private colleges should be let be, but public ones exist purely to serve the public they are not supposed to be for profit insitutions. So we can force them to do cost controls weather they like it or not, we can shut down departments that are not teaching useful skills. They are fundamentally put government insitutions and we can put the hammer to their bullshit at any time.

So, to be clear, you don't actually have an argument besides crying.

I do enjoy that you consider picking up on the fact that you loudly proclaimed that basically the sum total of the Trades and Labor were professions too lowly to be tolerated is some kind of Byzantine act of over analysis.

I want free university and college like I have free healthcare. I fail to see how that's crying?

Also, I'm putting my GF though trades, and I think I'd probably be in a fiscally better situation if I had done so myself rather than go to university, so yes I do find your continued belief I look down on the trades to be some kind of "Byzantine act of over analysis." lolol

Because "I want it I want it I want it you guys are being mean" is in fact, crying.

Also you don't have free healthcare. You literally pay for it. This is like saying if you gave me three dollars to operate a vending machine for you, you'd have a free soda.

Wow, weird that you'd go online and act as though the trades were a death sentence by petulantly insisting that the only way to live in modern society is via degree.

Guess you just fucked up, then.
