President Rockefeller was reading the intelligence briefings non-stop everyday, with a sinking feeling of dread. CIA Director George HW Bush informed the President that the Peronist government appeared increasingly likely not only to win the 2-month civil war, but defeat the coup plotters as government forces loyal to Argentine President Isabel Martinez de Peron have continued to gain more momentum as they've successfully crippled the rebels air support including destroying their will. She also managed to rally a majority of Argentinians to the government's side; realization was setting in among many political analysts & foreign policy analysts that the Rockefeller administration dropped the ball big time as well as pushing too many trigger buttons.
US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in his finest suit, with his shoes polished, glasses carefully fixed & with a neatly tight tie around his neck, strolled into the Oval Office where he gave cordial smalk talk to Vice President Brooke (who took some time off the campaign trail), CIA Director Bush & US Defense Secretary Clements. He was greeted with the stealy, silent gaze of Rockefeller, peering over the top of his newspaper only once. After a few seconds of awkward silence, in which he reviewed the latest intelligence briefings, the President spoke up.
"What the fuck did you do down there?" asked the President. "You said that Videla was going to take over the Argentinian government quickly on March 24th without any obstacles!" Kissinger knew all the answers to every question & even the Presidency wasn't going to spare Rockefeller from the display of his arrogance. "Mr. President, the Chilean Armed Forces and Paraguayan Armed Forces each have deployments at the ready along their borders in support of the coup in Argentina" replied Kissinger, but Rockefeller interrupted with a booming voice "Then why the fuck did the Argentine Navy get entirely wiped out by the Peronist government forces?" Now Director Bush just told me that the Air Force got wiped out too earlier this morning plus there's reports of those crazy ass idiots of the Triple A Alliance wreaking havoc again for God's sake!" "under orders from Ambassador Lopez Rega out of Madrid" answered Kissinger, "now remember, there was some controversy surrounding Lopez Rega and his odd strange behavior including the mannerisms" said the Secretary of State, who was again interrupted by the President.
"Bullshit Henry! You try dealing with those crazy nutjobs with hidden agendas in the region and then tell me the entire region in our hemisphere is going whacky!"
"Mr. President. Your comments on the situation during a daily press conference a few weeks ago, didn't calm things down." "Blah-blah-blah" interjected the President. "I figured why Ford didn't like your ass by having you removed as National Security Adviser two years ago. I also kind of figured those crazies of the Washington Post fucking leaked national security documents to the world God damn it! Plus if Videla and his group of nutties weren't so bipolar and crazy, they would've taken over the Argentinian government by now. Instead that nightclub dancer is making us look silly. Get the fuck out of here and go find a job that you're good at!"
Brooke, Bush & Clements all witnessed this ugly altercation before their eyes & kept calm during the time.
Kissinnger, humiliated & angry with vicious rage, was walking toward his vehicle as the thunderstorm clouds were circling outside; he got inside, pulled out the card from his suit pocket, picked up the phone & waited for the person on the other line to answer....... "This is Roger Stone". "Roger, this is Henry. I've got something major to share with you, but it's gonna cost you."
