Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

Question: why?

Maybe someone's theorized a way, but I'm not sure how to convert between the Gregorian Calendar and whatever dating system they have in Star Wars? (Yes, I know about the ABY/BBY system, but not on the order of individual months.)
I guess they use the characters first appearance on screen as thier 'birthday'; there was an 'Ahsoka Tano Day' on FB a few days ago to celebrate when she first appeared in the Clone Wars Movie.

Okay... any relation to when the character in question was born in-universe, or what?

I do not think so, since the most we get for the Star Wars calenders is years BBY/ABY, not months or specific days of the week.

In the context of 'what might have been', I've been using some software to produce a representation of what the Solo kids from the original EU would have realistically looked like (as adults / young adults).

Jacen, Jaina and Anakin.

I'm of course no big pro at this, but it's fun to play around with the possibilities. They look kind of expressionless because it requires decent pitures of Ford and Fisher as a 'starting point'. Finding good quality pictures of those two at a young age, and also facing the camera directly, isn't all that easy. (Also, pictures where one has a grin and the other doesn't, for instance, are hard to merge. So relatively neutral expressions are best.)

This is just a singe image, but it gives a bit of an idea of what these characters would look like, going by how they're descibed in the books, and then working off their parents' looks.

One day, I hope, we'll see the technology mature that will bring these characters to the screen. As I've argued before, I think advances in tech will ultimately allow for an 'actor-less' simulacrum of live-action, using neural nets and stuff like Unreal Engine 5, within 1-2 decades. By 2040 or so, it should be possible for a bunch of fans to literally just put the whole EU on screen, from Tales of the Jedi to Young Jedi Knights. And everything in between.

By 2030, Disney will have sold Lucasfilms to a company that actually understands and appreciates Star Wars, thereby allowing fan works under the provision that they get a cut of the profits.

I mean, it's a good way to earn money without doing any work. Just pick out the fan works you approve of, sign a agreement with the creators allowing monetization, and then getting your cut.

If the creators are really something special, like the guy who made the TIE Fighter anime, you could hire them on a part/full time basis.

That is how you do entertainment business, not this Soros, Gates, and Co.'s enforced brainwashing.

As I mentioned in the thread I linked, Disney is one of the major investors in neural net tech. I think they're planning something to co-opt it themselves. Hilariously, if they don't mess it up, it'll probably lead to their "licenced productions" out-performing any stuff they officially make themselves.

Could well be that the age of the studio production is coming to an end.

Well, not turning the original Thrawn trilogy into the ST when Ford, Hamill and Fischer were still young enough is probably the biggest failure of Star Wars.
Lucas only really went along with Bantam's idea to publish books because he'd decided he wanted to do prequels (the special editions as a sort of trial run) by c. 1989. Doing Thrawn Trilogy films was, unfortunately, never even a consideration.

Don't care what his original plans were, tbh.
He did good work with the OT, but he had a lot of input from the people around him and IIRC they steered him clear from some pretty big mistakes.
Thrawn was extremely well-received by the fandom and he should have rolled with it.
I have no idea bout his overall thoughts on Zahn and the Thrawn trilogy, I just know he hated Mara Jade.

Thrawn Trilogy was good and all but the entire Jedi related storyline was a pretty strong stinker in a franchise whose main storyline is kinda focused on the whole Jedi-Sith and the Force dynamic and themes.

I actually think C'Baoth could be way creepier on-screen, making him a much more effective presence.

Also, you can't actually see the double 'uu' in 'Luuke' on the screen, so that helps! :p

I can't decide what they do. I can only decide what I do.

In any event, I don't consider myself part of any clique. If something is good, I'll admit it's good. I think their Mandalorian series is pretty damn decent. Doesn't change the fact that there's dickheads in charge.

That's the thing though. The Fandom doesn't just want a "An apology." they want (or at least seem to want) Disney to personally acknowledge them and beg for their forgiveness as well for Disney to seemingly cancel itself to which I ask why should I apologize to you if you demand I burn anyway and if you aren't with them they consider you a shill and part of the problem (Gee where have we all heard this before.

If I remember correctly the attitude among Geeks and gamers and WBS was essentially "screw Star Wars (cause apparently all of star wars is bad now even the stuff that existed before Disney) and anyone who likes it. They are al disney shills." apparently it's okay to milk Disney outrage culture for those sweet sweet clicks though.

As far as the people in charge being jerks though especially in the online sphere. If I demanded to be asked forgiveness for every person who's been a jerk to me either directly or indirectly, I might as well be demanding God ask for my forgiveness for creating the human race and allowing them to create social media. I have no right to be that entitled in my opinion and frankly, Disney would probably just find a way to make it worse. The best thing they can do is keep their heads down and make stuff i'm willing to spend money on.

Now there are three people I think Disney owes an Apology to and it needs to be done privately and professional (as all things should be handled in the first place) and those people would be Gina Carano, John Faverou and Kelly Marie Tran. As all three of these people have been dragged through the mud to protect Lucasfilm's unprofessional online behavior.

I forgot about that.
Is fine. No one is all knowing.

I personally though, just want Disney to allow Legends stuff to be continued without any wokist interference. A separate universe, a separate timeline.

Oh and dump TCW to the Disney TL as well, for it does not belong in Legends.
