So as a bit of a silly thought, what would be the fallout if, instead of waiting until the Transports were under fire, Holdo immediately unloaded the Raddus and did the Hyperspace Ram the minute they realized they couldn't run away instead of engaging in the long chase?

Would this be before they reached Crait, or at the same time?

Because if it were at the same time, instead of seemingly getting off to Kylo about to kill Rey, Snoke would make an "oh shit" face and put his seat belt on.

Indeed.

One can be wrong and the other can be right.

As far as I'm concerned, "art" is a misnomer when "craft" is a more accurate term. And there is very much such a thing as shoddy workmanship when it comes to a craft. A carpenter wouldn't get away with taking off a chair leg to "subvert expectations", so why do film makers?
Because at the end of the day, a chair must serve an objectively practical purpose; providing a place for people to sit. What practical purpose does a movie serve?

Merchandizing, without them we could never have spaceballs the flame thrower.

Marvel did it again.

This is common in comic art. VERY common. Here is an example from Marvel that IIRC went to court. Could be wrong

This is from an actual marvel comic?
Really?

It looks like something out of a late-2000's Webcomic from Deviantart! 😂😂😂 And look at how you can see right through the door of the vehicle in the middle panel!
I just feel like comic artists should have higher standards. Especially for something as popular as Star Wars. Evidently that was incorrect. Or maybe just credit the fanartists responsible? 🤷‍♂️ And leave the pegs from 3d models out of any tracing.

It seems no one understands the time constraints these comics go through. I had a comic writer/ book author come by my highschool, and she explained that it takes a team per book, short pages as well. The editor goes through the script, then goes through the art once the artist is done drawing. Then you have depending in the book a colorer if the artist doesnt do that, speech bubble writer, so on and so forth. It is like writing a movie script, except more detail as the artist has to draw what you write by the details. If say the writer just goes "A star destroyer looming over head" they will just find one and trace it, to move into the parts that need more time.

Should they give credit to the fan artists? Sure, but people should realise they dont have unlimited time to write some of these and tracing saves time compared to drawing free hand. Especially those that have two put out a comic every two weeks.

I think it's not unreasonable to try an desperation move that sacrifices your most valuable and irreplaceable asset only as a last resort. It would only make sense to go immediately to hyperspace ramming if they already knew that the Supremacy was equipped with absolutely unprecedented hyperspace tracking sensors, as opposed to that it was tracking them through hyperspace via the well-established technology of a homing beacon.

The issue there is that didn't they have a few other ships that ran out of fuel and they just let the first order blow up?

Why not have each of them turn around and hyperspace ram them instead of just... nothing. Blown up. Done.

Because that required a pilot to aim the ship at their enemies, and no one present was fanatical enough to do a suicide bombing.
*sighs* the old Rebellion would have done that in a heartbeat, and they would have sent TWO capital-class ships.

But...

There was a person left on the ship when it blew up? Holdo was talking to them when they died on the other ship.

If they are willing to go down with the ship why not just... ram them?

"As long as product is available, then no matter the specifics I will CONSOOOOOM."

Ergh.

That ticks me off so much.

If anything it’s a contempt for SW itself. If that’s all it is to you, then it not be something your into as an adult.

But it’s more than that.

But yeah fundamentally that’s a sequel defense. “Turn your brain off and watch the visuals!”

It is my sincere belief that Holdo wasn't trying to hyperspeed-ram the enemy fleet, but rather attempt to flee with the last remaining fuel. As it has been stated in the direct sequel, it was a million-to-one shot, which Holdo likely knew.
Therefore I find it far more likely she attempted to flee than to commit a suicide-bombing, and only dumb luck on part of the rebels caused her to fly in such a way that it destroyed the imperial fleet. It has been outlined here, roughly:

Like? That just makes no sense to me. The battles and space ships are cool, but their furniture, its the characters that matter. And their stories.
I have never been one for deep meaning movies, I always like action in a movie over a lot of other things, unless the action is what makes the other plots of the movie revolve around it. For instance, Godzilla:KOTM. Its story isn't the best, but using certain action scenes lead into some of the most emotional and visually stunning scenes in that movie.

Sure I get invested in the characters, but if I wanted to watch a movie for the story and characters I would not watch a movie that involves ships blowing up and people in space trying to kill each other.
