Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

To use another example, the Rakata were intimately tied to the dark side, and once they lost the force they were violently overthrown, fought a civil war, and ended up going extinct.

Species that have strong connections to the dark side, seem to come to bad ends.

Curiously the Anzati still survive.

It’s because it was the combination of Dark Side and collectivism that did in the Sith and Rakata. They organized into grand empires where people making decisions at the top could spell ruin for all.

The Anzati by comparison are extreme individualists, rarely grouping up outside of child rearing and never for long. This means that whenever a dark side influenced plan (inevitably) backfires fatally it only kills that one Anzat.

The Anzati are more or less solitary predators, dangerous and amoral as they are.

The Sith and Rakata are at a civilizational level, dark side fueled.

I think I've changed my mind about which ship I'd personally use in Star Wars. I'd take a modified Carrack class light cruiser in its anti capital ship load out(basically I'd move the bridge aft and make it at little smaller so its completely internal(with cameras across the hull and view screens on the bridge to make up for no windows) and reduce the Ion Cannon loadout to 12 in exchange for 16 twin laser canons and a couple more heavy turbolasers(for a total of 12)and place four missile tubes where the bridge orginally was and keep the 4 tractor beam projectors it already has). After all its legends canon that it's already possible to crew the thing with as few as two people instead of a thousand with the right modifications. Mind you I'd probably go with around 80 people for the crew with rooms for another 800 people for passengers and for other various uses having spare living quarters aboard a starship like say picking up someone whose ship is a mobility kill) and around twenty two hundred or so droids of various types and use around half the the spare space freeded up by not having such a large crew to give everyone nice quarters(albeit not the largest but everyone's either only sharing with one person or gets their own room)and some really good communal facilities with the rest of the gained volume going toward cargo capacity(and if possible a small hangar) and expanding the engineering section (with a particular focus on increasing the power output to power the extra weapons). I'm keeping the life support capacity and redundancy of the stock design though.

The Jedi also have a tendency to suppress other sects in the Force. The post-Ruusan Order was especially oppressive, with at least one Jedi Master outright stating the only religion that matters is the Force, and that at the very least, all Force sensitives must be converted to the Jedi Code.

The ironic thing is that - in Legends at least - Darth Sidious once he took over allowed many of those sects to operate freely, with at least one even helping in the Great Jedi Purge. Payback's a bitch, Jedi scum.

I will always choose being a Jedi over being a sith. at least I don't have to worry about being backstabbed.

Will still rather be a force sensitive Mando over everything else/
A squads worth of Mandalorian force users that have been properly trained in both using the force and as Mandalorian warriors backed up by say a company or two of Mandalorians must be an absolutely terrifying force to face if you don't have overwhelming numbers and fire support. And even then they're still scary just beatable

And TLJ is still somehow better than JarJar Abrams' films!

Fuck.
Honestly they should have picked anyone but J.J. Abrams or Rian Johnson to direct and help write the sequel Trilogy or if they did they should have given much tighter leashes. Seriously did Bob Iger not read the scripts before he gave the final green light?

Probably not, for the first two. The entire point of keeping Lucasfilm as a subsidiary and putting industry veteran Kathleen Kennedy in charge was so that the Disney execs wouldn’t have to babysit them.

When you have spent over 4 billion dollars to acquire an IP at the very minimum you should fucking read the scripts since the future of said very expensive IP depends on them. Seriously I get not babysitting Lucasfilm but reading the scripts should have been required. Oh and whoever thought getting rid of LucasArts should have been told to take a hike

I don't think Disney realizes just how much of star wars profit came from stuff outside the film. I mean seriously Disney is treating the books and the games like tie in stuff from the 2000s

Looks at the good Vader comics, the good star wars comics. A decent amount of the books. The games are their own things. I don't get what you mean

dude comic sales don't mean jack anymore. Star wars games were a huge part of Star wars butter. More star wars games used to come out in a year than what we've seen the entire disney span. Unless you count pinball for some odd reason.
