I can't find it on IMD. That's odd.

The trailer looks good, though.
What is odd in leftist censorship? in Warsaw ,city with many cinemas, you could see it in one cinema - in smaller place they could find.
But,it is very good,so if you could ,go and watch it.

When I go looking, I can find Bollywood films. Often higher level only, but still.

A few Japanese films, Chinese, European, so on.

As it happens, it was there, just not easy to find. Thanks @Skallagrim!

Netflix Binge Continues... But the Quality is Dropping. :p

First up, the Jennifer Lopez action thriller The Mother where Jennifer Lopez plays an army veteran who is hunted by two different international arms dealers whom she used to be romantically involved with and one of whom impregnated her. The film starts off with a pretty shocking moment where a visibly pregnant protagonist almost gets assassinated and really got me thinking if this movie might be something. But overall, ultimately, the movie wasn't all that good.

The film shifts to twelve years later where the protagonist was forced to give up her daughter but eventually has to rescue her from assassins sent by the aforementioned arms dealers. The film is best in the non-action scenes. Especially in scenes where the protagonist is hanging out with her estranged twelve year old daughter and the two of them are hiding out and the Mother is teaching her daughter survival and wilderness skills which you just know will come into use later.

But the rest of the film is just so cliche and formulaic, and the action scenes are mid at best. Very unoriginal and too slick. There is a lot of cringe moments as well, like when they go out hunting, or engaging in dialogue about certain things like guns and the like. Also lots of people doing stupid things to further the plot. Overall... a very average but yes entertaining film.

6 Underground is next. More entertaining but that's likely due to the strength of the cast led by Ryan Reynolds who portrays some highly skilled rich person who forms a team of elite eccentric mercenaries that do noble things like robbing mob bosses and overthrowing dictators. The action was great, and the movie was fun to watch, but I feel like it's all been done before, especially by Ryan Reynolds who has done a lot of action comedies. Still the fact the movie didn't take itself too seriously meant it was more entertaining, even if it was pretty by the numbers. Most of the film was pretty uninteresting beyond the "fun" tone however and I couldn't really tell you much in relation to plot details, but the final action piece taking place on a Super Yacht was pretty neat as was the opening car chase scene. Everything in between I guess was just filler.

Primal. It's a film about Nicholas Cage as an Exotic Animal Dealer who brings a rare albino jaguar on board when a notorious ex-CIA/NSA Assassin/Special Forces killer escapes the custody of the US Marshals who are transporting him on the same cargo ship as his animal cargo. Hilarity ensues. I don't even think the film was all that good to be honest. Nicholas Cage is Nicholas Cage. There's a scene where a pack of CGI Baboons maul someone to death. The US Marshals are lol-incompetent. Ehhh... watchable. Mildly entertaining.

Force of Nature. A group of well armed criminals raid an apartment building in Puerto Rico in the midst of a Hurricane. Also left behind are a pair of Puerto Rican cops, a retired Cop portrayed by Mel Gibson and his Nurse daughter, some other residents and... Oh right... another exotic animal owner and his big CGI cat. This movie is more serious than the Nicholas Cage one. It has more interesting characters, with decent action scenes. Mel Gibson is fun. Well acted for the most part. Some clever moments. Decent enough low budget action movie.

And finally, in the gayest movie of the year that I watched, The Power of the Dog. I didn't realize this was a movie I had talked about before in another thread involving actor Sam Eliot's opinion of the film. I am generally in agreement with him, the film is very, very gay. I will say the film did hold my interest early on, I liked the setting of 1920's Montana and the budding interactions and relationships between the characters who were all really well acted in their performances, but as the film delved deeper into the material, and the gayer it got and I began to realize how unsubtly Queer this film was, the less interesting the film became until by the ending scenes I was really disinterested by all of the repressed homoeroticism that was going on. Even worse, was how all of the characters became just more and more loathsome and unlikable, not just gay.

I won't say its a bad film, it was very well made and the first half of it as it explored the 1920's ranch life more earnestly and with less forced repressed homoerotic messaging was pretty good. But subtlety was not this films strong suit. The drama part of this film was DRAMA in all caps and that was this films failing.

Swashbuckling Accountant
After some years I have seen the Hardcore Henry. A fun, heavily over the top action comedy, first person perspective gets jarring at moments, but in all it is a refreshingly different, although I really don't mind the fact that no one picked up the concept, once was exactly the right amount.

The French either make good media or horrible media.
No in-between
It was made by rich french catholic, not alongside usual french movies, but against them.
Pity, that we do not have rich poles who would do the same.

Final Day of Streaming Binging... it was fun while it lasted but eventually one has to return to their regularly scheduled life experiences.

Best movie I saw today, clearly... was 2018's The Mule. Based on a true story, Clint Eastwood portrays a ninety something year old Korean War veteran who is suffering from financial issues when he's almost randomly approached and accepts a job for "just driving" because of his perfect driving record and previous background as a long haul truck driver. Obviously, it turns out he's smuggling large amounts of drugs for a Mexican Drug Cartel. The movie... starts off really tense because you know that there wouldn't be much point to this film if there isn't some sort of climax for his behaviors. What's interesting about this film is that the story really unfolds in ways that I wasn't expecting. It wasn't so much a subversion of expectations or anything scary like that, just really good storytelling.

Clint Eastwood's character is unexpectedly complex and he does a great job portraying "Earl." His interactions with his family, including his estranged Wife and Daughter and other relatives adds to the movie instead of slowing it down and even adds more heart to the film. And his interactions with the various Cartel members is also interesting.

Even better is there is a secondary story with Bradley Cooper and Michael Pena as DEA Agents and showing their side of the story as they try to work this case of drug smuggling using snitches, wiretaps, stakeouts and dealing with bureaucrats and time limits and other political pressure to making good PR busts in a short period of time versus actually doing a complete investigation and making a significant bust.

Overall it was a really good movie. Very tense still but the characters were nice and it had a lot of interesting things going on and a lot of emotional heart to it. Sweet. Scary and thought provoking.

I then saw a crime thriller or action movie called Those Who Wish Me Dead which came out in 2021 and starred Angelina Jolie as a former Smokejumper and current Firejumper which is kinda weird... but she does a good enough job with the odd role. Also Jon Bernthal, Nicholas Hault and Littlefinger himself Aidan Gillen star as well. The basic premise of the story is two criminal assassins are hunting for a Forensic Accountant and his Son who have information on their illicit dealings and they are pursued into the Montana wilderness. It's a relatively simple story and while it's not perfect, when it tries to be a smart action film, it typically works. The action is nice, the settings are neat and everyone does a good job with their roles. It's a fairly smart, but pretty standard action thriller. Like a lowkey Sicario or something. A far smaller and focused story though then films like those. If you like action movies, I'd recommend giving it a watch.

Last but certainly not least, is the 2021 apocalyptic thriller called Awake. The premise here is that you have a solar flare do the standard apocalyptic thing of ushering in an EMP that shuts lots of things down. But more curiously, it prevents people from going to sleep... or even unconscious. Your either AWAKE or you are dead. This in turn adds a twist to the standard apocalypse in that sleep deprivation obviously leads to bad ends in a manner of days. The protagonist of this film is a former military medic and University security guard who has two kids she has to take care of as society starts to unravel.

The other twist is that one of the Mothers Kids can apparently fall asleep and thus as literally everyone else slowly loses their sanity and mental acuity, the Kid remains normal and witnesses all of this horrifying decay around them. There's also reports of a military/medical base where they are seeking a cure. So the entire film has this growing dread of... if a cure isn't found, what will happen to her Kids, especially the one that's unaffected by the Insomnia. So she's also trying to prepare and train her Daughter as much as she can as time literally runs out on her own ability to function.

The film actually has some neat ideas and concepts and scenes, especially in the middle of the movie as it becomes a bit of an apocalyptic road trip and they both encounter and witness various disturbing scenes of the unraveling of society. Accidents. Debauchery. Barbarism etc. But overall the film is still underwhelming with all of the ideas kind of half baked. It doesn't feel rushed, but it doesn't really impact you on an emotional level I feel. The ending act is fairly dark and there is a dread over these rather interesting characters you follow but... for whatever reason... the whole movie just doesn't hit the mark. Like the whole production just wasn't put together well enough to make it really stay with you like a good apocalypse film would. Nice try but the movie ultimately, despite an original twist on the apocalypse, wasn't anything special in the end.

MaoMao is a well-written protagonist, and the anime's humour and art-style are great. She's also voiced by the legend herself, Tanya von Degurechaff Kumiko Aoi Yūki. :)

Saw a crime action thriller called Brawl in Cell Block 99 which was starring Vince Vaughn as a humble Drug Runner who ends up getting nabbed in a police sting whilst in the company of some Mexican Cartel henchmen. The event results in the loss of millions of dollars worth of product for the cartel so after Vince Vaugn's character, a man named Bradley Thomas, is convicted and sent to prison, a cartel representative reveals his wife and unborn baby will be harmed if he doesn't repay the cartel. To pay off his debt, he has to somehow access a maximum security facilities 'prison within a prison' known as Cell Block 99 and kill a target of the Cartel in such a restricted environment.

The film starts off slow, taking a solid 20-25 minutes to set up the characters and it's great. It really establishes the main character and his current relationships and attitudes and Vince Vaughn, whose normally known for his romcoms of course, portrays a underspoken, mild mannered and yet principled and determined individual very well. And the way the story starts to accelerate after his incarceration is well done. The film has some realism issues but it's not meant to be a realistic film. It's primarily trying to tell a story and it's solid storytelling.

The prison environments are great and a bit eccentric in some cases with how miserly they are, and the other inmates and guards, with what brief time they get on screen, are also given enough time to flesh out as minor characters as well, which helps fill out the film even more.

What is really surprising and will take you back is the rising intensity of the violence that occurs. It slowly builds up in many cases and after the first violent encounters, it becomes tense as you realize how violent it can truly become. The fight choreography is deliberate and not particularly fancy, but it's done in long cuts which is nice and undernotes the brutality of the action. And it's brutal. Broken limbs. Bodies torn open. Bones being audibly snapped. And the effects seem to be at their base practical. The cuts are quick from the brutal after effects but it works as it adds more impact to the surprising gruesome of the scene without really indulging in the brutality like you'd see in a torture porn film.

Despite how rough the movie is, that violence is enhanced by how the rest of the film takes its time to unfold and is deliberately paced. Very muted atmosphere which means when the tension builds, it becomes a real roller coaster of a ride.

It was a really good film with a basic story well told and some brutally wonderful violent action scenes that might make you winces a bit, both in reaction, and in anticipation. So glad I went into the film blind.

Saw the television series, or I guess the first season of a Paramount+ show called Special Ops: Lioness. The name is pretty cringe which is why I avoided it but when I saw a review blurb I heard some journalist whining it was "cliche military propaganda" so based on that, I was motivated to give it a try.

It was actually pretty good and not completely cringe except for some random bits in the opening episode establishing one of the female characters as really gung-ho. But other than that, it was actually a really entertaining and interesting spy/action thriller series that stretched across eight episodes. I was actually expecting eight episodes with lots of action scenes and the glorious slaughter of assorted terrorist ethnic minorities but the story was actually revolving around the insertion of a special agent into the family of a billionaire financier of Islamic terrorism and it was actually really well done with lots of character establishment and development scenes and some surprising moments of drama which took me aback.

I was also shocked that a television show was made that had characters non-satirically criticizing open borders, why using special operations within American borders is baaaaaad, intermittent shitting on the FBI, and exploring the politics behind the oil industry, backing oligarchies and how its interwoven with the Middle East and the unrest that arises in the region without regurgitating left wing Pan-Arab talking points. It also didn't bring up Israel once... amazing. Did I mention it also acknowledged the existence of Islamic terrorism? Quantico should've taken notes.

It was far from perfect mind you. While I liked a lot of the character moments, and they were riveting in some cases to make me care, sometimes the characters were rather annoying or unlikable in various moments. The story also seemed very bloated at the beginning. It was never too complex that you couldn't follow it, but there were a lot of storylines thrown into the show and the first two or three episodes were really front loaded with these things that it actually took like two episodes to actually really get into the actual story.

With that said, it was solid entertainment. It didn't have as much action as I thought, but it wasn't due to a lack of the thriller component of the series. The characters for the most part were pretty interesting and while some scenes had me definitely eye rolling, or wish they could be skimmed over, taking it as a whole season, it worked and was pretty decent. Better than I thought a show titled Special Ops: Lioness would be anyways.

It also made me realize even if your filthy rich, you too can have serious problems with your personal lives. :p

I watched it when it came out and enjoyed it. I did like the view of the heirs living in their own world. They did manage to convey how the super rich live seperate from normal people.

I do admit that the frist few epsoides push the strong female role hard but it did die off in later epsoides. The bar scene on base was pretty bad. I did like the poltical favors being traded becasue it happeneds in real life like that with a lot of scratching and horsetrading going on.

Since this thread is basically my movie blog now, my partner and I saw two films today on Paramount Plus and the first one was some tension-less crime thriller (starring Maggie Q) called Fear The Night. It came out just last year and while the premise was intriguing to us, a bachelorette party taking place on some isolated farmstead mansion when a group of home invaders attack them, it turned out to be extremely cliche, with like no tension, and extremely unlikable characters.

About ten minutes in we were kinda rooting for the home invaders with how annoying the future victims were, but when the home invaders were introduced, ehhhh I wasn't rooting for those reetards either. Anyways... it was a bad movie, but it was still entertaining. It wasn't low budget, and none of the actresses or whatever phoned it in, but the script and story were just terrible. There was maybe one or two moments of "Oh that's clever" as plot twists go and a couple of interesting kills and moments, but all of these bastards and bitches kept on talking and no... just no. Also some parts were ironically entertaining and amusing. But overall... pretty balls. Afterwards I looked it up and saw this film had the same writer-director as the 2006 crime thriller remake epic The Wicker Man with Nicholas Cage. Shocking to see a Director with such a pedigree creating such a film.

Later on, we decided to cleanse our palate with another crime thriller. I told him we should watch this crime thriller starring Ben Affleck I heard about a while ago and was on Paramount Plus as well.

It wasn't until like halfway into the movie that I realized we were watching Gone Baby Gone which stars Casey Affleck and was directed by Ben Affleck while I was thinking of the crime thriller Gone Girl. But my dyslexia aside, the Gone Baby Gone was amazing and I can't believe I haven't seen it until now.

The first half of the movie was like, drawing me in to the crime mystery and I was totally engrossed.

Then the second act came and I had this sense of growing dread and depression and darkness.

Then the third act came and I was feeling more and more apprehensive as the plot continued to go into completely new areas.

And then the movie just left me staring wide eyed at the screen processing what I was seeing for an ending, and the film in totality. I am so blessed I went into this film BLIND and not knowing what the film was about because it was an amazing film. One of the best I've seen in a while. Would highly recommend giving Gone Baby Gone a watch. It was an amazing thriller. Very well done. Took its time to tell the story but the tension was still thick. Great crime thriller movie. Left my head spinning not because it was confusing, but because the story was so well laid out and morally complex and so much depth to it. Just wow. Really good film.

So I just started watching the new season of Classroom of the Elite. If you liked pass seasons this anime is still going strong. It is a story about a school that is run by machiavellian rules. Everything can be brought from grades, food, saving yourself from being expelled. The school then tosses in event that are made to play mind games and pit students against each. Mix in students with gaint egos and some sociopaths and you get a good suspenful drama.

I also recently watched Murder Mystery and its sequel. They are comedy mystery murder movies that are fairly funny. They start Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anstion as a married couple that gets put in a scene right out of Agatha Christie book. Then it takes the common tropes and plays them up. Overall nothing ground breaking but a fun watch.

Apothecary Diaries and The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic.

I like the latter because one of the "perfect" hero candidates, the girl, is a complete closet weeb, excited to be isekai'd, and is drooling over the MC in a non-fan service way; conversely, the MC was caught by accident in the summoning and becomes a badass combat medic that munchkins what he has.

The other hero is basically the straight man to their hijinks and is amore serious take on the "summoned/abducted to another world" aspect of these isekais.

There are a few good subversions already, like the King not being an utter douche, and he wants to protect the heroes.

"Nah nah, don't worry about him, he's no-one."
"Hm. Okay."
"So, uh, what's Green Magic?"
"Oh shi- why'd you have to say that! Save him!"
"lolno."
