Anime & Manga RWBY General discussion thread.

Fandom=/=All Fans

That's something I kinda realised after awhile

Hell, it's sort of the problem with things like "Nerd Culture" it doesn't exactly have a strong cultural identity and people online so much and even get to be MODS tend to include guys who want dominance and attract/keep those who are pliable and such

Doesn't help if people are secretly embarrassed by their hobbies and want to impress people outside too much, as well
Thats why I am proud to tell people about what I do and embrace nerd culture
WTF, that's how insane the RWBY stuff has become.

Frankly I think that anime is likely to resist pressure from the Leftists, simply out of a 'fuck you, gaijin' mindset.

It's weird, but Japan may end up being instrumental in break the narratives and mindsets Leftists wish to push.
It was mainly because it was a very popular lesbian ship (which I still domt see where the chemistry is about them. One of them had better chemistry with a guy but *shrug*) and the song was called the name of the ship and all that, and people freaked out badly (mainly Tumblr) so they got vicious.
The main issue with RWBY are the ravage FNDM (not FNDM not fandom or fans) who must have thier headcannon or else it is wrong and they secrety hope thier headcannom will be Canon. Which is a thing Is most anime esq shows, the diffremce RWBY being American makes them susceptible. I say the show has honestly gotten better. Animation is more fluid and the like. The FNDM os just horrible.

It is the same issue a lot of series and even real life has now that are in the US..

I ditched RWBY because the worldbuilding became progressively more and more pants-on-head retarded.

Some settings have problems with the 'Idiot Ball,' where someone has to act uncharactersitically like an idiot for the plot to happen.

Some series have problems with an 'idiot plot,' where everyone has to act like a damned idiot for the plot to happen.

RWBY is an Idiot World, where the fundamental underpinnings of the entire setting are asinine and would have gotten a failing grade in a high school creative project.

I have a lot of fondness for some of the character designs and some of the story themes. RWBY had some great moments. But the further in you get, the more impossible it is to take anything seriously, even as the story threw the lighthearted humor elements out the window.

Two gods created the world. One light one dark. One decided to wipe out all humans because he was angry they would use magic against him. The one who gave it.
A woman given immortal life to never be with the man she loved. Goes to try and defeat the ones who gave it to her.

Early on it was not the best world building but it has gotten better

What I find more infuriating is the fandom I've met on SB taking the setting more seriously and acting as if it's Uber-realistic and even "socially relevant" at times and magnifying the amount of Human-On-Faunus racism stuff

Who also proceed to talk about Aura & Semblance as if they're extremely unique stuff to anime/manga or that complicated or HAXX and sort of wank it all

Which has taken a back seat because of poor writing. Something we argue about a lot in the general thread.

We have somewhat come to a concession about thay. It is diffremt but not unique. We compared it to various ideas.
There are horrible fans of it.

I know. I watched that exposition episode. Its self-contradictory and retarded nature is what finally killed the series for me.

RWBY has always frustrated me because at times its core brilliance shines through and gives us a glimpse of what could have been. And then the writers do everything int heir power to smother that brilliance because... I honestly don't know. At this point, a simple, derivative anime knock off would have been better since that would at least enforce some basic storytelling competence.

Rooster Teeth was never known for its great writing I would say.

RWBY originally was more helped by Monty Oum's skill at choreography and such but he died early on so everything went down the drain there.

It makes sense to me. I don't see how it contradicts itself.

There are plenty of mistakes it makes, it isn't perfect. I still enjoy it.

The choreography is pretty good, though not Oum levels, is better then some higher budget western media out there.

ANYWAY this is off topic and I apologize

The fact that it somehow makes sense to you is proof that Scott Adams' postulation of one screen, two movies, doesn't just apply in a political sense. Well that, as well as the fact that you believe that RWBY's choreography is "pretty good" and "better then some higher budget western media out there"; which is just incongruent with observable reality.

You're the perfect example of why objective quality is entirely subordinate to one's own emotional state, and may not even exist.

While Monty Oum was doing fight choreography, it was a step above, especially the trailers. The flow in the moves is amazing, and it's beautiful to watch. After he died though, it took a nose dive, and was much less interesting.

I mean..i have seen some pretty bad western media. I am not saying they are disney or the like, but some of those TV shows that are...less then great in animation style and the like.
I am not known for having great interests.

What monty did was use poser to make animation, and if you actually look at how he did his fight scenes...they are often just the character portion being moved very fast, not really changing. It still was amazing.
Since they switched fully over to Maya the animation fully looks cleaner, it all belnds together stylistically, compared to when using poser with Maya assets. The fighting is not Oum tier, but it isn't post Oum pre figuring out what they are doing. They have very talent in artists behind it, and they can not compare to oum, they do a damn good job with the skills they have.

In your opinion; they do a "damn good job" in your opinion. I'll give you that they've improved over time; but from what I've seen, in my opinion, the fights have only risen from being "god awful" on average to "decent" (which, don't get me wrong, is a massive improvement), and that's just not good enough to carry this show.

The initial stuff was a lot of fun. The Monty Oum fight scenes carried the series (and really could have carried any series). Post Monty Oum, the fight choreography tanked, and I wasn't as interested. The plot was meh, and they really screwed up with the Faunus racism. Either make racism actually present in the series, or don't have the white fang.
There is not a single fight scene in the series that measures up to Monty's pre-RT standards.

Have you caught up to the current Volume?
The fighting is very good now, vastly improved from post Oum pre volume 6. It is a lot more fluent.
It isnt as batshit insane but is very well animated and moves fluently.
You dont know what the fuck you're talking about.

Check out some of the newer fight scenes from Vol 6 and 7.
I like then fir them being fluent.
Stop saying fluent.

It actually got smoother as they switched to using full Maya instead of using Poser with Maya characters.
It just isn't Oum style anymore.

You can hate what you hate
Bad is bad.

My opinions are mine. I don't need yall to like the show either.
Your opinion is that incoherent fight scenes where people take insane actions for no reason are good, not all opinions are equally valid.

Also the fact that you're misusing the word fluent is fact not opinion.
