I'm just saying that Red China deserves the title way more than Putinist Russia, which is more or less finished as a world power in all significant ways, but militarily. Sadly, I doubt the Chinese will come under nearly the kind of scrutiny they deserve. We'll come to regret that later, I fear.

In the lower latitudes it's not really doing much to "help" anybody. In the great white north, it can make sense to shift the day to when the sun is briefly in the sky during the winter so it aligns with school or work, but really the US (outside of Alaska) is generally low enough that this is not a big deal. Now, when I lived in Scotland, yeah, it helps most people maximize useful daylight.

I'm not sure why they did this, they did enough damage to there reputation by hiding the story when it first came out, admitting it only makes them look worse. I figured they would just bury the story forever and hope people stop bringing it up all the time.

The republicans would have been forced to deal with Covid, the economic out comes, leaving afganistan and Russia. By stealing the last election they created a mayrtr and got to own every single failure thus far.

Losing the next presidential election would see a few people kicked out of power and a few people put into prison but the democratic party itself would survive just fine. It would take them a decade or so to recover like after Carter but they would come out of it just fine.

DST is more to align the summer solstice sunrise time with when people are up, about, and on their way to work so that factories, stores, offices, &c don't need as much summer A/C and homes don't need as much artificial evening light.

During WWII the British had "Double Daylight Savings Time". When that was in effect the local Solar Noon was 2PM or later throughout most of the British Isles.

EDIT: It's 1:52PM tomorrow where I live. I'm towards the Western edge of a time zone, DST is in effect, and it's still winter. I'm also at about same the latitude as Rome, Italy and Madrid, Spain.
