an Imperial restoration wouldn't be the worst outcome for china, if they get a consitutional monarchy well there are plenty of countries with those that have been quite successful.

Due to her size and history, I believe China is destined to be an autocracy, much as Russia. Yet, a constitutional monarchy, a strong state which has its limits, could work out very well for them. In some respects I do think we may be heading into an era where monarchy makes a return, especially if our glorious elites carry on ruining everything.
But could it happen, though? Could the Dragon Throne be filled after so long a vacancy?

Of course they will. During and post demographic implosion they'll end up breeding like rabbits as human instinct course corrects the cock ups of the social engineers. Nature has an odd way of fixing things, and human beings are programmed to be fruitful and multiply.
That aside, a population contraction might not be such a bad thing. Eats up less resources and whatnot.

It's not their money they're putting on said ship, it's their country's money. Their own money is perfectly safe and if some of the scandals are any indication, increasing because of their part in it.

The problem with that is...who will pay for it? The Credit Crunch is coming. Not many are going to have the money to bail out China. Then you have the problem of China deciding to fracture.
