A few years ago Qatar had a six billion plus dollar deal with Boeing to supply the nation with 36 F15QA Fighters. Now an additional contract with Boeing has been signed for 650 million dollars to add more comprehensive logistical and administrative support for the aircraft.

In addition Raytheon got a contract for 78 million to build two Air Operations Centers (one backup) to help streamline operations with all of these fancy new aircraft since its not just new F15's they're getting. Qatar also has deals to acquire Dassault Rafales and Eurofighter Typhoons as well to replace it's aging fleet of jet trainers and nine active Mirage 2000's.

As I recall the F15QA served as the basis of the USAF's new F-15X which helped save the taxpayer virtually all the R@D costs of the F-15X as another nation had pretty much already paid for it

Abu Muhammad al-Masri was reportedly killed in Tehren back in August by two men on a motorcycle, reportedly by Israeli agents at the behest of the US Government according to anonymous US intelligence sources. What is known for certain is that AL Qaeda and other extremist Sunni groups have been operating in Iran with the knowledge of Iranian government and security/intelligence apparatus and are still operating within Iran.

And yes, this has been going on for a long time, despite the overbearingly basic understanding many people think they have of the Shia-Sunni divide when it comes to Islamic extremism and radicalism. Of course neither Israel nor the United States officially acknowledged the reports and Iran has denied both that the murder occurred and furthermore that it houses or that Al Qaeda operates in its territory.

Regardless of the truth of the matter the Egyptian born al-Masri helped operate terrorist training camps in Afghanistan in the 90's and was considered one of the key players in the 1998 US Embassy Bombings as well as allegedly the 2002 Mombasa Attack. Since then he's been on the FBI's Most Wanted List and operated both in Pakistan and Afghanistan before being detained in Iran before being released and apparently residing and operating in Iran ever since.

In other news:

The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday uncovered and disarmed a number of explosive devices that had been planted inside Israeli-controlled territory in the southern Golan Heights, near the Syrian border.

Though Iranian proxies were suspected of being behind the attempted attack, Defense Minister Benny Gantz and the military said they held Syria responsible for the incident.

The explosives were planted in a buffer zone along the border where Israel once maintained a clinic for treating Syrian civilians under a humanitarian program known as “Operation Good Neighbor,” which is now used for patrols. The area is under Israeli control but on the Syrian side of the security fence, an area just before the United Nations-recognized “Alpha” ceasefire line.

And the response:

Israeli fighter jets attacked military sites controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Syrian military around Damascus early Wednesday morning in response to explosives troops uncovered on Israel’s border with Syria on Tuesday, the military said.

The Syrian state news agency SANA said three soldiers were killed and one was injured in the attack, which targeted sites in southern Syria. There were no immediate reports of casualties from the IRGC.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a pro-opposition organization based in the United Kingdom, said 10 people in total were killed in the Israeli strikes, some of them Iranian. This could not be immediately confirmed. The Observatory has in the past been accused of inflating and even inventing casualty figures. In general, Israel does not intentionally target people in its strikes, instead focusing on infrastructure, as this has been found to reduce the likelihood of retaliation by Iran and its proxies.

Al-Zawahiri passed away? Wow, for an Al-Qaeda leader and Bin Laden’s successor that’s actually fairly impressive he didn’t die to drone or seal team.

Not often Al-Qaeda senior officials die of old age.

He was the real leader from the start, Bin Laden was but a public face and the fund raiser. He learned the imprtance of staying hidden in his days with the Muslim Brotherhood, fighting against Egyptian government.

I mean, they have kinda left us alone.
Oddly enough we don't fight AQ much anymore these days. It is mainly Taliban and ISIS

Fair as in they did not have air support and we did.
Yes not very fair but since when do people in wars do that nowadays?

If you had the answer to Vietnam and Afghanistan on dealing with all those coffins coming back your enemies would be crying on how unfair it is just like Fritz bitching about the shotgun when they took any means to win.
