Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
We never did.
I thought you did when you dragged Russia into Afghanistan to give them a taste of Vietnam.

Then sometimes in the most truest intent of Uncle Sam being himself, weapons by the CIA used to arm Syrian rebels slip into Al Qaeda's hands or other terrorist groups.

Israel is hosting it's first Ministerial level visit from Bahrain.

Looks like Netanyahu will be reciprocating and visiting Bahrain now.

Holy shit!! Could it be peace in the middle east!
@GoldRanger so...how big of a deal is this?
Yes and no. Israel and all these countries it started signing agreements with are forming a front against Iran and its allied countries (such as Qatar, Syria, possibly Turkey). It's peace within one of the two factions that are starting to form, but between them the two factions are very hostile to each other.

Syria and possibly Turkey. I wonder if the Kurds will be used again in the future.

So...Iran is that big of a threat there?

Oh hell yes.
Are they the biggest threat to Isreal and all those nations joining with them?
I thought Iran was only a threat because they may get nukes, nit that they are a massive threat to the country that manages to fend off countries at once.

Iran used to be Persia. Things have changed since then but the neighbours don't like to fall under their influence or the Turks.

They don't like those terrorists Iran's sponsoring as one example.

The nuke thing is just an icing on the cake.

  • Iran has active proxies and partial government control in 4 countries (Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon) and considerable influence on others, such as Gaza.
  • Iran has an arsenal of ballistic missiles capable of reaching throughout the middle east, and they keep developing and improving their range and accuracy.
  • They are also attempting to export their rocket technology to its proxies, chiefly Hezbollah in Lebanon, which would be a nightmare scenario for Israel. Rains of primitive rockets that hit mostly dirt - out, pin-point accurate high-yield long-range missiles hitting infrastructure and military and industrial bases throughout Israel - in.
  • In addition to the above, Iran and its Hezbollah proxy terrorist group has invested considerable efforts into opening a second front against Israel from Syria's Golan Heights (the first front is Lebanon), ensuring it has more avenues of attack in the next war against Israel. They ship personnel and weapons for their proxy groups through a land corridor they established through Iraq and Syria, that is fully controlled by Shia terrorist groups.
  • This attempt at creating a foothold and the rocket shipments are the reason Israel frequently strikes inside Syria - to destroy shipments of bolt-on kits for making their rockets guided, to destroy Iranian bases that are used to coordinate its terrorist activities against Israel.
  • On quite a few occasions, the Iranians were directly involved in fighting with Israel, not merely by proxy. One such example is February 2018, when Israel shot down an Iranian drone full of explosives that crossed the border from Syria, presumably on the way to a mission of terror (IIRC it occurred shortly after Iran or Hezbollah got hit by Israel, and there was a lot of bluster about retaliation). The drone, by the way, was a copy of an American RQ-170 stealth drone that crashed in Iran due to technical issues (or Iranian electronic warfare, depending on whom you believe) 7 years prior to that. Israel retaliated immediately by destroying the Iranian C&C that piloted that drone, deep in Syria, with an airstrike, killing Iranian IRGC personnel (not proxy forces, actual Iranian soldiers). It escalated into a minor skirmish with Syria that resulted in one downed Israeli F-16 and tons and tons of destroyed Syrian SAM batteries. February 2018 Israel–Syria incident - Wikipedia
EDIT: January 2015 Mazraat Amal incident - Wikipedia - an even earlier incident where an Israeli airstrike inside Syria killed an Iranian General touring the Israeli/Syrian border as part of Iranian plans to create a foothold therefor use in attacks against Israel. A bunch of Hezbollah terrorists also died in that incident.
  • Iran also smuggles weapons, funds and training to Hamas in Gaza, and of course, the infamous Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon.

So long story short, it's a whole semi-cold war thing that's been going on for years. Saudi Arabia traded its own blows with Iran and its proxies (in their case, in Yemen) too - 2019 Abqaiq–Khurais attack - Wikipedia . Israel has also operated on Iranian soil on occasion, and Iran and Israel actively traded cyber warfare blows. Basically Iran attempted to hack Israeli water treatment facilities in order to poison or degrade its water supply. In retaliation Israel hacked into the computers of the Iranian port of Shahid Rajaee, causing a ship traffic snarl that lasted for days and delayed shipments considerably.

So no. The nukes are merely the nightmare scenario of an already smoldering war.

These peace agreements are battle lines forming against Iran.

So, a war is brewing over there and the sides are being Drawn now. Goal is to outnumber Iran. Though Isreal would have the backing of the UN would they not?
