Media/Journalism Cringe Megathread - Hot off the Presses

The day I eat a bug outside of either a dare, being pranked, or in the worse case scenario under desperate circumstances to stay alive is the day the universe has suffered from its heat death.
Chocolate covered crickets are tasty. Then again so is lutefisk (which corrodes silver) and fugu (which can kill you when it's improperly prepared) so I'll say this: to each their own.

ABC News Rachel Scott has singlehandedly won the Summit with a single question that clearly left Putin SHOOK... as the young hip people say nowadays.

Because of this single question... DEMOCRACY WON THE SUMMIT!!!

We all know he has killed a lot.

Hemost liekly gives no fucks....and is most liekly worried about the military itself over the US Pres

That is a very stupid woman...

Because it's a coinflip whether Putin has her killed or decides or something worse... And anyone with two braincells to rub together would know that and not poke the sleeping bear...

I would only do that if I know the president would do something about it.

He won't so I would shut up

In this case, it's kind of more just...sad because Putin won't do anything to her and she knows it by the question itself?

She doesn't threaten his domestic power or position in Russia, or know anyone who does. Nor would getting to her with polonium-tea or such be impressive or something to discourage critical foreign media. He's as likely to have her assassinated as he is to assassinate a weatherman for Fox 15 of San Antonio, Texas. There's no benefit to him in it like there is in the case of Navalny or tthe Skipals where it's a show of force/power/reach and can be played to the domestic Russian audience.

The question was her just making a news cycle for herself and her 'bravery' against a nonexistent-danger by way of...a question that Putin had a canned answer ready for doing the usual russian reversal thing.

You realize Putin has actually had journalists assassinated for less?

Has he?
Not being snarky there--legitimately unsure, and if so I'd assume they're domestic Russian journalists that have a platform or position inside Russia from which they'd threaten him.

Could well be wrong on that though.

Um ... Russia doesn't exactly have a good track record when comes to being subtle when attempting to assasinate somone:

They're sending a message and broadcasting it loud and clear.

Twelve more journalists to add to the list then... :p

Newsbusters made a top 12 list of Journalists fawning over Biden's NATO and Putin summits.

Host Joe Scarborough: “I’ve been going back through my mind….maybe you can come up with a better week in American diplomacy overseas, over the past 20 years of the 21st century? I’ve been trying to figure it out, over the past 12 hours. I can’t think of a more successful diplomatic trip in the 21st century than this one….It ain’t nothing to get the United States of America and the EU on the same page….When we’re getting that team together….that’s calling the Avengers together. It’s pretty damn good.”...

Truly galling to think about what’s coming for the representations of tv news like these people. All the myriad different ways staring them in the face, while they can only fixate on the camera. Oh well, one can’t say that they, as mature adults, lacked the time and ability to pause reflect on the wretched nature of their roles in the “news” ecosystem and do a positive 180.

When people look back on why the american republic fell the news media will get a large majority of the blame.
