That and I think these people do what they do in part because they want to be seen as ‘unique’ and ‘special’. The fact that they can be stereotyped by appearance really gets to them.

The problem with being special is one of isolation. If your special if you really are one of a kind then your kind of on your own. The prespectives of others and the past and a lot of things don't apply to you. Once you give up on being special you can take strength from the lessons of the past.
Other people went through what you went through, other people suffered what you suffered, you are not special yes but your also a part of a wider tide and you can take strength from it.
These people are snowflakes. And I don't mean the inappropriately used leftist definition of 'fragile', I mean it's proper usage of 'believing uniqueness actually matters'.
They think that by looking like insane mad max types that people will think better of them or something, when they neglect the six other creeps standing next to them.
