Given how it was attempted the first time to give him a slap on the wrist only to piss of the Chicago police I'm not sure.
There's corruption in the police from what I heard besides the legacy of where famous mafia operated so this can be two corrupt groups colliding and fighting each other out in the court.

That said in the long run, I gotta pity guys like Jussie Smollett, he doesn’t have much in-terms of skill and taleny, maybe even work ethic and connections
In this day and age, I think people like him feel that they NEED attention and controversy to get hired or be famous. Even then I doubt they’d be doing much or getting so highly paid, may even “just be there” with a position and barely any contribution but with a sort of looming threat that they may do something online or they get trusted to make some stuff but that stuff sucks and they’re allowed numerous repeated projects but their hearts weren’t even in it in the first place
But that won’t last unless they can and are willing to actually bring something to the table. Doubt he’d do well in a blue collar job either.
