Israeli-Hamas War News & Updates

If that is true...well there goes the neighborhood. Has the Potatoe and Chief commented yet? Somehow I don't think decisive action is in the cards for him. Hell, Britain and France had more spite by threatening Germany with war over Poland, the reason we aren't threatening war over Ukraine to Russia is they have Nukes capable of reaching us, WTF is Biden afraid of/waiting for?
Eh, I haven't seen anything from the US, and SecDef Austin wanted more negotiation, not strikes.

At this point who is actually running what in the US gov is kinda a giant question mark, however, and anyone from Obama to Blinken to Kamala could be the actual decision maker on a given subject now.

We're in that stage of the 'Death of Stalin' type political turmoil where who controls what and answers to whom is no longer as clear as it used to be.

And this shit will not help the Dems with their jihadi base in some places of the US.

Dearborne, Michigan may as well be a fucking Muslim Brotherhood covenant community at this point.

I am actually seeing some people (anti-israel people) online claiming zero casualties to Israel...WTF?

Well I am heading to work, I pray for Israel and hope nothing escalates any further.

EDIT: Also here is this to help people get a grasp on what this could mean.

**IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari:**
>>> There are no additional threats heading toward Israel from Iran currently, indicating that the missile attack is over.

Residents were notified a short while ago that they can leave bomb shelters, after an hour.

During the defense, we carried out quite a few interceptions. There are some impacts in the center and areas in the south of the country.

At this stage we are still carrying out an assessment, but we are unaware of casualties.

We are on heightened alert on defense and offensive, we will protect the citizens of Israel. This fire will have consequences. **We have plans, and we will act in the time and place that we choose**

And, roughly 180 missiles

Iranian media is supposedly claiming over 20 F-35's destroyed..? :sneaky:

Likely the casualty count is in the tens of thousands. Some say it's 9-11 times as bad as 10-7.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this not an act of war? Why is Israel not returning fire almost immediately?
Israel has a LOT of irons in the fire right now. They need to make sure Gaza is secured completely in an effort to erase hamas. They are also invading Lebanon in order to erase hezbollah. They are also dealing with the houthis in Yemen. Engaging in a long distance war with Iran is not something they want at the same time. So...I'm betting we'll just see very targeted strikes against Iran. It will only get big if we, the US, decide to target Iranian forces and infrastructure as well.

So crush your smaller enemies first before turning on the bigger one?

Well, the sooner the better. Iran should have been dealt with long ago.

Pretty much.

Though Israel could certainly sortie a number of strikes against key targets in Iran if they wanted without really going whole hog. That will likely cause a bit of a circle jerk of reprisals though so my money is on Israel waiting unless they see a larger risk in not striking now.

Prime targets are going to be missile batteries and support facilities.

Because doing it properly takes some preparations.
Designing routes for aircraft and cruise missiles, doing strikes on inconvenient air defenses, preparing all the strike and support assets....
8-48h i'd say, the more major and distant the response the longer it will take.

**Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the opening of the political-security cabinet:**

**"Iran made a big mistake tonight - and it will pay for it"**
>>> Citizens of Israel, At the beginning of my words, I send my condolences to the families of the victims of the criminal attack in Jaffa and wishes for a full recovery to the injured.

As with the missile attack, there is also a deliberate and murderous hand behind this attack - it comes from Tehran.

Tonight, Iran again attacked Israel with hundreds of missiles. This attack failed. It was thwarted thanks to Israel's air defense system, which is the most advanced in the world. I congratulate the IDF for its impressive achievement. It was also foiled thanks to the vigilance and responsibility shown by you - the citizens of Israel. I also thank the United States for its support in our defense effort.

Iran made a big mistake tonight - and it will pay for it. The regime in Iran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and our determination to retaliate against our enemies.

We will stand by the rule we established: whoever attacks us - we will attack them.

This is true wherever we fight the axis of evil. This is true for Judea and Samaria, it is true for Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria - and it is also true for Iran. We are fighting the axis of evil everywhere, including our heroic soldiers who are now operating in southern Lebanon and Gaza.

Today, more than ever, the forces of light in the world must unite and act together against the dark regime of the Ayatollahs, which is the source of terrorism and evil in our regions. They must stand by Israel. The choice has never been clearer between tyranny and freedom, between blessing and curse.

One fatality reported in GREATER Israel due to the launch of hundreds of Iranian missiles.

That's right, a booster or rocket component FELL on some poor Palestinian pedestrian in the West Bank.

:cautious:

EDIT:

Apparently five Iranian troops were also killed during a launch mishap of one of the ballistic missiles.

Yeah, we need to terraform the moons of Saturn and just deport the entire middle east there until they learn to behave.

Hi there - I have a nonzero amount of doubt.
How good is Iran's air defense network?

They got the S-400s as well.

I think their main asset is the distance. Israel would have to overfly a lot of places to drop big thick bombs on important Iranian locations or else they'd have to use cruise missiles or whatever ballistic or surface to surface or long range missiles they have in inventory which... I'm not sure if they have that many besides cruise missiles?
