The hospital isn't scamming. Much of that would have been through the ER. Without insurance: $2,500 just for the ER to see you, plus at least $10,000/day if the hospital has to keep you overnight - give-or-take.
Average of $6,800 per visit.
The hospital are scammers. There are no good people in this story.
best way to make this stop is to make it their problem too.

For non-ER stuff I'll agree with you.
The ER? The hospital has to be staffed and prepared 24/7 for whatever might come through the door and people with insurance foot the bill for those without insurance who can't or won't pay.
Is the ER expensive? Yes. Is it exorbitant? Eh, not really all things considered.

Part of it is indeed a scam.
Another part of it though is the way the laws work.
ER must always treat anyone regardless of payment ability in the USA (unlike china where they first get you ability to pay).
So every time an illegal comes in and leaves without paying, they now have a bill they have to split between all the other customers who do pay.
You are paying for yourself and for everyone else too.

Problem is that a lot of democrats and low information voters will believe this.
To be honest, if Americans can't see through the Democrats by now, I don't think there's much hope for them unless a Democrat openly dances around on stage, naked, wearing a mask, or pulling a Kang and Kodos (Hillary is the best candidate for this, haha).
