Germany's military... no idea. I know they're underequipped, but with Russia being cunts they've had a massive uptick in military spending, so they're slowly coming back up to scratch.

The Bundeswehr is a bunch of neutered puppies, and the supposed uptick in spending is years away from bearing any fruit. Right now, noticeable parts of the still active stock of equipment is being sent to Ukraine, recruitment is as low as ever, the forces are celebrating trans commanders, and they're cutting spending on equipment because they can't pay their heating bills as costs for heating have 'suddenly and unexpectedly' increased by 661 million (totally no relation to the government's disastrous energy policies, I'm sure).

Globalization exacerbated this situation making any citizen still living outside of a concrete jungle an actual detriment if they weren't actively involved in resource extraction. Unfortunately in space-premium urban environments it becomes expensive to raise kids and the populations started to drop, depriving nations of their workforces. So callous plutocrats starting trying to figure out a way to just import fully formed adults without having to raise them. And if possible avoid taking care of them when they wear out too.

Its an extension of neo-liberal economics. Its cheaper to outsource the manufacture of the bioproduction and consumption units to lower cost jurisdictions like senegal and somalia and import the raw product and do finishing work here.

When your entire economic ideology is focused on "big line go up" everything becomes just another fungible part of the supply chain, including labour.

It's important to note that these two theories are in no way mutually exclusive, and if anything, are most likely both true and have a cumulative and heavily redundant effect, with different proportions depending on time and place.
We can see the power of the socioeconomic cause (also with missing here credit to Bismarckian social security schemes) even in more exotic places that have nothing to do with the western leftist self-hate clubs under pink, rainbow and green flags and their retarded policies, like Russia, Turkey, Taiwan, Iran, Japan and China.
