It is the only kind of economy that works... at least in modern context.
But one can be pro-free market and still a leftist. In fact, large capitalists are biggest proponents of free trade and of the leftist policies.

Leftists are pro-progress, pro-globalism, pro-equality.
Right-wing are pro-tradition, pro-tribalism, pro-hierarchy.
Left vs right literally comes from the seating arrangement of the French Assembly, where revolutionaries sat on the left wing of the chamber while traditionalists sat on the right wing of the chamber. Thus, Left = progressives, Right = traditionalists.
Association of these terms with economic ideologies is of a much later date, and in fact terminologically incorrect. It happened as a consequence of the Civil War in Russia. You see, Lenin actually didn't want command economy. It only got introduced in form of emergency measures during the war; it was dubbed "War Communism" and was intended to be an emergency measure. As soon as the war was over, Lenin began to disassemble the command economy and replace it with the New Economic Policy. But after Lenin died, Stalin reintroduced command economy because it gave him control over society. And later, both Fascists and Nazis used command economy as a major part of their own brands of socialism, albeit in a manner significantly different from what Stalin did.

So yes, you can be pro-free market and still be a leftist. It is unusual to say the least, but... well, we have perfect example here in Croatia: SDP is pro-immigration, pro-social-justice, worship Tito... yet they are still pro-free-market.

Yeah, European governments aren't even remotely interested in fixing the migrant issues they caused. They'll just keep silencing people trying to point out that there's a problem until they're overthrown; either by the peoples of their respective countries, or the migrants they invited in.
