This is a myth, Jupiter is nowhere near large enough to be even a brown dwarf (which is a failed star lacking the mass for fusion.). Jupiter is about 13 times too small to be a brown dwarf which are generally about that many times too small to be a low mass star.Will they exclude gas giants as planets, since I've heard that Jupiter could be a "near star?"
