Halo Halo Game Thread: A Tale of Sequels and Logic Plagues

One of the worst Halo theories I've seen is people arguing Cortana is infected with the logic plague.

It's just so terribly flawed.

1) If she was she would have never helped destroy the Halo ring in 3, she'd also have deleted the index so there would be no way to activate or destroy it.

2) She had plenty of instances to have helped the Flood but didn't especially during the events of Halo 4 where she could have hijacked the Mantle's Approach and free the Flood from installation 04 after Didact and John die. It'd literally have taken her MINUTES to reach installation 04 even if she was dying.

3) She also could have freed the Flood in both Infinite and Halo 5 where she had Guardians which also could have reached Installation 04 in minutes

4) And finally, the Flood literally had no reason to play the long game of infiltration with Cortana it'd had already won it was free and could have infested the entire galaxy, Cortana serves no use as a sleeper agent.

And don't give me any stupid shit like it was a back up plan because a better back up plan would have to kept a Single slip space capable ship in reserve Incase the Halo bait was a trap.

I thought the logic-plague required the flood to be present to work. With the flood being all the way out of the galaxy stuck on the Ark, shouldn't it have worn off, if she even was infected by it?

I don't think so, the way it's usually supposed to work is by "convincing" them like memetically to side with them.

So it's sort of permanent once it works, but people ignore the fact it takes like 50 years of back and forth talking to work so it's not effective short term.

That's a good point, wasn't the Forerunner/Flood war pretty damned long?
*Grumbles under breath that Humans were Forerunners*

Yeah it was, me thinks Flood are overrated as hell in vs debates, they only won through a combination of Forerunner incompetence (How the fuck you leave an unmonitored AI for fifty years with the Flood and not realize something fishy?)

And plot macguffins (logic plague/slip space shut down) that wouldn't work in most settings.

Halo 3 and post content shows outbreaks can be contained with competent reactionary forces and scorched Earth tactics.

About all that....

What I get from this video is that the entire 12 years we've had of bad storytelling in 343 Halo has all been down to one shiny bald man's incapability to have the reading comprehension of a seven year old. I... I don't even. I need a drink.

The contrast of looks between Master Chief and the rest of the UNSC (particularly the Spartan IV's) is just we needed to help solidify the "Fish out of water" elements of Halo 4's story. And helps make more rebellious behavior a lot more believable.

God it's so much better. With this armor you really feel out of place on Requiem. Pair that with a rescore of Bungie era halo music+343 music, putting covie models* where they belong, and you've got a massive improvement on this game. Can't wait to see this thing finished.

*especially the Elites. Good Lord, I still can't get over how ugly the Halo 4-5 elites are and how their appearance and behavior clashes so badly with the Bungie Era ones.

I'm rather proud that I stumbled onto this fact years before Sabertooth made this video.

Oh don’t get me wrong I knew that Bungie wanted the Forerunners to be Humans, I just did not know the full story behind what happened between the Bungie and 343 era. I’d also fallen victim to the claim that Bungie always intended the forerunner= humans idea to be ambiguous and that they’d started to change their mind by Halo 3. When in reality that wasn’t the case for either.

X_X I am a little upset that due to shitty management (and the current abominable state of game devs), Halo Infinite turned out how it did. No singleplayer expansions, and future projects using the UNREAL ENGINE, BLEGH.

Part of the charm of Halo was that it ran on it's own engine, with it's own funny quirks and subtleties to it. Removing that turns it into a globohomo grey blob game and that is just sad.

I just don't understand how you can have a goldmine of a franchise, something that has been universally acclaimed for like 20+ years, and let it slip. I mean fuck, give me 8 years and infinite budget and I likely could come up with something better than a halfassed open world game. X_X

Sorry, too tired to find the template and put in HALO. :D

It's correct, I think everyone on this page is a Halo nerd except you :p
(Although I unapologetically despise the 343 lore lmao)
I enjoyed the first 2 games and read like 1 book.
That was, like, over a decade ago.

And I remember some tidbits of lore.

The game was an OK shooter, but I can't say it was something unique or a masterpiece, if anything, I would like Bungie to go back to its roots and remaster/remake Oni.

Admittedly, I did enjoy watching Master Chief get his ass kicked by a Brute in the opening cutscene, because it actually makes sense that Brutes would be physically stronger than a SPARTAN-II even in fully-kitted out armor. Brutes are supposed to be monsters.

Although I much prefer Lexington Dath's redesigns:

They actually look extraterrestrial in this concept, giving them that "pigrhinobadgerskunkmongrelbeastthing" appearance they had in Halo 2.

Yeah, I much prefer the Halo 2 design over 'big monkee man' which they ended up going with later on.
