Gun Political Issues Megathread. (Control for or Against?)

Personally I think someone is either too dangerous to be allowed back into society, or they have served their debt and deserve to have all of their rights and privileges restored to them - pick one and act accordingly.

Exactly either the criminal justice system is about ddeterrenceor or rehabilitation. Not both..as a society we're tearing ourselves apart trying to waffle around the middle of this dilemma.

Unless you're Singapore but they don't work on modern logic. They're essentially a hidden kingdom straight out of a pulp novel for how ridiculous they are.

Totally "based" though.

I don't think that it needs to be about one or the other.
Deterrence means that you are actually afraid of the consequences of a given action.
If you do end up committing that action though you should be rehabilitated after you have paid your debt to society.
High fine and a massive amount of very nasty community service for first time offenders and juvenile delinquents should be enough of a deterrence to limit repeat offenses, perhaps with them being made to watch videos of executions and told that that can be them if they don't behave.
That is the stick, it will be nice if there is a carrot along with it, like for example nothing sticking to one's record for a first offense after the nasty public service, think cleaning out waste and sewage for 10 hours a day, is done.

Thanks.

Not doubting some of the points and figures the article brings up, per se, especially since America is way more heavily armed than just about everyone else on the planet, as they mention. However, it'd be nice if they specified the exact shooting incidents in question (which the FOX segment didn't specify, either). After all, it was only two incidents, so if they have a problem naming them, then I'd take a step back as far as the "reliability" of this article is concerned.

John "special needs" Roberts presides over yet another backbreaking session.

And people are worried this spineless rino is gonna allow Roe v Wade to be overturned? His court is a joke.
Par for the course with this jackhole.

It's actually more geared around incapacitation then either of those (perhaps as a result of the failure to achieve either of those), and generally makes more sense when viewed in that light.

And do you know why they haven't been able to get anything done on the federal level? It's because the entire system is a sham; Republican politicians by and large are Democrat politicians, except with an "R" next to their names instead of a "D". They both want the same exact things; it's just that the former group is feeding you a different set of lies to try and fool you into thinking there are two options, instead of just one.

We cannot vote our way out of problems like that as things are; not until we get the majority of people currently in office out, and replaced with people who aren't career politicians. Because almost all of them want you either dead or in chains; Democrats and Republicans alike.

Terthna, is there ANYTHING positive you have to say about anything, or possibly offer some sort of compromise or solution? Seriously, is there?

I’m asking because at this point it feels like you are completely convinced we and the whole world are doomed and we should just turn the keys and be done with it. It’s not a particularly healthy attitude for, well, anybody.

I think he wants people to stop pretending US politics is not at the level of a thrid world banana republic, or that the powers in DC actually give a damn about most Americans, or that we actually have a meaningful voice at the ballot box anymore.

And he's not wrong that a lot of the Dems at least likely buy into the Great Reset BS, and are ok with subtle depopulation plans like Soros and co want.

I get not wanting people to give up hope we can fix things, and seeing what he and others say as a 'unhealthy attitude', but it is a realistic attitude. We have to be clear eyed about exactly how fucked shit is, and how few options we actually have to address issues, if we want any chance of turning shit around.

Pretending things are better than they are for the sake of morale might fly in the military, where you can just order people not to complain about certain things, but not in the civie world in a country with free speech.

Give us real, tangible reasons for hope that the problems we see can be fixed, and not just trite lines or cliches that are more about keeping up morale than actually addressing anything.

Edit: And frankly, it is getting to the point where I think many youth don't care about nuclear war, because they don't see a future anyway, and going out in a nuclear apocalypse is at least a 'cool' way to go out, and a way that a lot of the elite fucks who put us in this position cannot save themselves from. I mean shit, there are already reddit groups that are making lists of known 'private' fallout shelters the elite build for themselves, because if the elite think they will survive a nuclear war while it kills the plebs, they got another thing coming.

"Waahh, times are tough, so I want to lay down and give up." Bitch please. People have been through much worse, and come out the better for it. This abject despair is stupid, childish, and self defeating, and I've honestly had enough of the whining for a lifetime.

If you can't see success, that's a you problem. Meanwhile, there has been a lot of success happening while you weren't paying attention. The Supreme Court, the Libertarian Party's RenoReset, the ability to 3D print guns along with increasing popularity of them, expanding popularity of school choice, and I could go on.

It takes time, effort, and money to accomplish these things. What it doesn't take is bitching and moaning.

the 2020s are going to be an absolute shit of a decade, an entire economic system is currently collapsing and a lot of shit is going to change. The last 75 years will be remembered as a decades long golden age, but it couldn't last. The transition to another world another way of doing things is going to be painful as hell a lot of people will die.

But humanity will survive and humanity will adapt it wont be fun at all these are the hard times after all but we fight for a better world for our grandchildren.

Not everyone is in a position to do anything that can actually meaningfully effect politics, and some have done some before and been burned for it so will not put money or good faith towards either side of the Uniparty. The issues you site are minor victories while ignoring multiple strategic level defeats, and you forget the SCOTUS leak, which compromised the only untainted institution left to US civil politics; even Justice Thomas admits this.

It would all be easier if Trump just lost legitly, as frankly his vax push and ego have soured me on him rather seriously; but he didn't, the election was stolen from him, and a lot of people here seem to think the Dems cannot possibly pull a steal again, because accepting they can means accepting we cannot trust the ballot box as is, and frankly the ammo box is farce of a joke.

We are in a clown world now, learn to deal with the suck, instead of pretending shit isn't fucked and we aren't a nuclear armed banana republic. We need to hope whoever comes after Biden is a more benevolent El Presidente and that we haven't experienced a global famine/energy shortage by then.

Because it's not just America that's fucked, it's the whole world, and we are likely heading for a lot of bad times, that might never end, because it would be all too easy for Soros and co to get their way with their puppets in DC and elsewhere.

We need to focus on political/personal survival, not 'victory' as some seem to think we truly can achieve. Because there is no lifeboat, no offramp from Uniparty's/Overstate's control (Trump forced them to drop the mask, and now they don't feel the need to hide anymore), and our best hope is our own enemies ego and pride tripping them up with internal squabbles, or black swan events that break their plans in ways no one could foresee.

I hope I'm wrong about how things seem to be going, but people cannot and should not make plans based on 'hopeful assumptions', or on minor victories overcoming strategic defeats.

this is going to be a generational fight.

and the establishment is fucked too, no bodys going to have a good time not even them.

See, this is the mentality that allows them to win. They've already beaten you mentally. Look at this shit:
Not everyone is in a position to do anything that can actually meaningfully effect politics, and some have done some before and been burned for it so will not put money or good faith towards either side of the Uniparty.
This is the problem. Yes you have power to work for change. A crowd is made up of individuals, and you can be one of them. I show up and do things for the libertarian party. Am I horribly important? No, but I am a useful piece in the machine. Seriously, find a campaign you believe in, not necessarily a political party, and get active.
