Gun Political Issues Megathread. (Control for or Against?)

I thought they ran before the charges were officially filed, and did so rather fast after the shooting itself.

The articles I can find says they failed to turn themselves in after the charges were filed and withdrew money from a bank (location unspecified) that same day, so I'm assuming that means a local bank and they vanished at some point later that day, leading to the manhunt.

Ok, that makes sense.

The parents might have had a shot at beating those charges if they had turned themselves in. Running just added more charges on, I expect.

Guess the whole family could be sharing the same prison cell in the future.

Based on the evidence presented, I have a hard time seeing them convicting of the manslaughter charges. Evading arrest might be a separate charge, I don't know if they've been charged with that yet or what happen when you're not guilty of running after being accused of something.

Think of it like being involved in a car accident bad enough that a police report needs to be filed. If you're there when the cops arrive you're only in trouble for what you did before they get there when they get there.

If you leave before they arrive ... you're in trouble for "leaving the scene" even if you did nothing else wrong.

Also, missed this the first time through.

Looks like the popular media wants to ban wholesome family pictures if they take place within the same month as a shooting despite no apparent connection between the two.

I have mixed thoughts. His son or whoever has the good taste to own a PTR, which is good. But it's one of the models with an M4 style stock in it which is....eh....it's not great, it really clashes with the rest of the rifle's appearance.

And, having decide to concede to modern design trends by buying one that was modified from the orginal specs, he get the one that has just the M4 stock but doesn't mount an optics rail. Which is just baffling.

As it happens, NR just published something discussing this:
Circumstances of Parents’ Arrest in Michigan School-Shooting Case Don’t Prove Awareness of Guilt | National Review

And as of now, several days after thier arrest, no new charges have been added, so it's unlikely they will be.

Key parts highlighted here:
Moreover, while this “manhunt” is being described as if it were notable for its vigor, in reality, only a few hours elapsed from the announcement of the charges and the arrest of the Crumbleys — a time during which they were trying to grapple with the horrific news, the unimaginable devastation of the parents of the dead children, and the near-certainty that their 15-year-old son will not only never come home again but will spend most if not all of the rest of his life institutionalized.

No, they shouldn’t have been hiding out in a warehouse. Yet it is understandable that they would have left their residence after news broke connecting their son to a horrific mass-shooting at the school. It is not unreasonable to believe they were distraught beyond our imagination, they needed some time and space to process what had happened, and they knew their home was not suitable and safe for that purpose.

It's really hard to sell "gone few a few hours" as "desperately evading arrest and fleeing".

Part of me hopes they get acquitted to spite the leftist who is prosecuting them and to force the nation to face how infiltrated our criminal justice system is when the ADA requests the Judge over turn the verdict and he or she goes for it.

This is a disgusting display. A visual 'fuck you' to a long-suffering American populace. I don't care what spirit it was done in, it's insulting and evil in ways that Thomas Massie should understand and apologize for.

Semi-automatic M60s are something no American family should ever see or include in holiday cards.
Should be proper, belt-fed automatics.

BAH, M60's are SO passe.

M249 and M240 Bravo all the way, baby!

(You may thank me for this delicious gun porn later.)

Well here is some more info.

Yeah the kid had a few screws loose for a while. No one can tell me the shit he was doing was normal.

Gals like her tend to irritate my wife and female relatives because gals like her generally exaggerate the things my sisters and sisters-and-law all know how to keep unruly children from dangerous things entirely by instinct that "daddy" wouldn't allow them to touch witout adult supervision.

I'm sure the gun control angle will be that minors should not have access to guns at all, and there will be a push for requirements to keep them locked up at all times, and that parents should always be held responsible for stuff like this (contrast this with that supposed "mtf trans" person who rape/assaulted more than one girl in the bathroom and his mother blaming the victims), and I wouldn't even be surprised if there was another push to ban the scary black rifles even though the kid used a pistol, like most criminals.

So it begins...

Stolen Guns from L.A. Trains Make Mockery of ‘Commonsense’ Laws - AmmoLand.com Another good article from a long-timer about the Great LA Train robbery, turns out weapons were stolen too:

The story actually raises more questions than it answers. First and foremost: Who shipped the guns and where were they being sent?
Were they commercial shipments going from dealers to FFLs/gun stores for the “civilian” market? Or were they being sent to police and government agencies? If the latter, are we talking about firearms reserved for law enforcement and denied to average citizens in the name of “commonsense gun safety” now being in predators’ hands?

The manifests should answer those questions, but either way, what is the likelihood that the thieves just stumbled upon the shipments by happenstance? Conversely, what is the likelihood that organized criminal enterprises have inside sources that told them just where to look?
Boggles the mind that they were transported this way, someone cut corners.
