Gun Political Issues Megathread. (Control for or Against?)

Looks like we've got a 1-2 punch against the NFA going:
Article:
I’ve been sitting on news about the introduction of a bill for several days waiting for more details to come out. On July 15th, 2022 HR 8399 – To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the National Firearms Act was introduced by Congressman Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina. The bill, which rolled out without any press release or fanfare, is finally available.
...

While such a piece of legislation does not have a chance of being passed in both chambers of Congress, and signed by the Biden-Harris administration, it’s still nice to see some of our representatives push such measures forward. Most of the so-called “gun control” laws we have today were introduced several times or sat in waiting for the right opportunity to have them ushered into the spotlight. In some cases the right crisis needed to occur in order to push such bills into committees and subsequently to the floors of Congress. Not that something like that would happen today.

It'd be interesting to see someone sneak this in as an amendment to a larger bill, but I think that the most important thing about it is that someone is actually trying to do it.

My friend from Texas, Mr. Roy, advances the so-called insurrectionist view of the second amendment, that the second amendment's purpose is to give the people the right to overthrow or fight our government or fight the police or threaten armed resistance if the government is somehow being unfair or unjust," Raskin said. "This reading is totally and absolutely absurd and flies in the face of the place text of the constitution.

The literal intention of the first and second amendments when exercised in tandem is a seditionist position to hold. giogio2.png

This is some amazing cope.

It’s Raskin, what do you expect? Jackass probably believes that same BS that Cicilline (sounds kinda like syphillis to me when you pronounce it) argued a few days ago that braces attached to AR pistols turns them into automatic weapons…yes, I’m serious.
🙄

'Good Samaritan' identified in Greenwood Park Mall shooting; called 'hero' by his girlfriend's family

40 yards with a handgun, even a handgun being stabilized against a pole (somehow) is very impressive shooting.
Haven't really been following this thread but decided to check in on it.

Stabilized against a pole means he was probably using the concrete base* a parking lot light pole is bolted to as an improvised bench rest.

* intended to keep a car which slams into it from knocking the light pole over.

Oh, and go Indiana for having sane and sensible gun laws.

A few years ago, a police officer decided to perform armed robbery in uniform, and the courts didn't beleive slef defense applied because of the uniform: the Indiana legislature passed a law to reverse this decision.
Do you have a link to that?

Note: the Indiana General Assembly is a part-time legislature. They meet for only 3 months of a 2-year election cycle.

Qualified immunity means you can't do shit. It's not prosecutable, and any lawsuits will fail to Qualified immunity. Cops aren't your friends (in regard to 2A advocacy and every other right): they are the people who who will violate your rights most frequently.
Are ATF agents cops?

Are ATF agents cops?
Yes.

Arrest the fucking judge.
The hell did the judge do? Seriously, the judges behind the creation of qualified immunity are long dead. And the judges obeying the law isn't the problem, the problem is the law/precedent. If you hate qualified immunity, Alito is your chief enemy, and Thomas & Sotomayor are your best hopes.

Would have also been nice if Tucker didn't do his best to defend the qualified immunity with blatant lies/stupidity last time there was a chance of congress doing something.

It seems the "new" AWB that was getting pushed by Cicilline and Nadler has been pulled from the floor by Pelosi, citing lack of votes.

EDIT: It's also cited they may try to push for this again in August, but already running into issues with Pelosi wanting to try to make the bill more "appealing" by tacking on additional funds for law enforcement, but the Congressional Black Caucus is already voicing objections, etc.
