More larpers in useless battlerattle.

We need organised streetfighters capable of fighting on all levels, not just goofballs in tacticool with AR 15s they cant use in 99.999% of the situations that will arise.
Eh, plate carriers are common with people who want lighter weight armor. Some units allow it some don't. Form what I am seeing, they look like what a Soldier would have. Nothing to excessive, nothing to little. Some of course don't have good stuff on but hey, not everyone will have the right attire.

The Ar is to prevent them from getting close and using mob tactics. I mean look at how well it worked for Kyle

I'd argue its better to have a group of folks in full battlerattle standing in the back, with a larger group of people who carry no guns in the front. This would allow greater flexibility in confrontations. The gun crew basically stands guard, while the the rest do their thing.

What a good bit of tjem are wearing is full battle rattle.... what do you think it is? Full IOTV, ACH, magazine carriers, grenade puches, etc? Only basic infantry wear that kinda stuff. And even then they don't always wear an IOTV, could be an IBA, or as most special forces and rangers do, Plate carriers. Like what they had.

So..you would rather have mob on mob violence with what equates to a firing squad behind them incase the other mob breaks through?

Id use them strictly to counteract the other gunmen. They would stand back and watch. They would not participate. Firearms in demonstrations are like nuclear weapons, they are a useful deterrent, but useless most of the time. Dont build your strategy around them, but integrate them into a much larger system.

Carrying an assault weapon limits your options. The guys without firearms can engage more openly and fully along a much broader spectrum of confrontation.

Just don't go looking for a fight...make them engage you. Be armed is the best way to win should they engage

Last I checked, this is still purely a term used by the media, with no actual technical use or definition.

If you're going to be talking out shades of ITG, at least use correct terminology. Saying stuff like this makes you seem like the cultural equivalent of a glowie.
As the local Glowie I endorse this.

Technically an assault weapon is a weapon used when assaulting w position. Larger caliber ones are called assault guns. The standard model for an assault invovled machine guns. So technically they are assault weapons

I am not a firearms expert and dont really care what term is used by whom. And im not doing ITG. Im pointing out that guns are mostly useless for this sort of thing.

Very technically it's defined in certain laws. For instance California's definition can be found here. Yes, some of the things that make a gun an assault weapon are safety features, and they full-up admit those are safety features in the law.

However every set of "Assault Weapon" laws are different from one jurisdiction to the next and it's generally just used to imply that a hunting rifle is really an assault rifle.

For good old street thuggery, they'd be better served by a suit of full plate armour, functionally impervious to most "street fight" level of blunt trauma, need specialised kit to deal (war mace / war hammer) with. (they'd need to watch out for tear gas / mace though).

Punching someone with steel gauntlets, well, yeah...

Edit:
That monitoring system is horribly, horribly racist. Why, it didn't record even a single white person. Racist, I tell you.

Rioters maybe?

In seriousness, they're using it in the same way that one might refer to "food porn".

The article itself it pretty par for the course. Saying that the only reason why counter-protests are happening is that people feel justified opposing "racial justice" because of "cherry picked" videos of violence that make everything seem far more extreme than they "really are".
