@Abhorsen @Husky_Khan @evilchumlee any suggestions how to "look" for games ? Steam storefront is a fucking garbage mess and gog.com is a bit reductive (and I say this as someone who basically gets gog.com's versions as soon as available) but I honestly to look for new games it is a bit of a conundrum, because when I search for "horror" I gets tons of stuff who are clearly put together to make a quick buck, multiplayer stuff I don't get scared of such as Hunt Showdown or things that barely get any reviews.

Except from obvious suggestions such as Doom for FPS, BG3 and most Bethesda made games, Steam gets a lot of things wrong. Example : by accident I clicked on a "puzzle" tag and it suggested me COD (which also ironically was tagged LGBTQ friendly and was like...ok?) so it is annoyingly difficult discovering amazing games.

I tried even itch.io but the place is still primarily experimental stuff.

I would check sales of a game, but haven't found something like that yet.

My general approach is to be years late to very, very good games. Because then they've already been filtered for you.
Kinda sounds like when Dying Light 2 was hot shit then actual reviews started to get through. Or Starfield (ok very weak comparison it took less than DL2).

Basically. I first played Portal around, oh, 2015? It still was amazing, I loved it, but I didn't have to play a bunch of bad games as well to get to it.

Honestly, I really recommend BG1 & 2, they are classics for a reason. Other old but great games are Far Cry 3, All the civilization games, Undertale, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Super Mario Sunshine (play on an emulator), Early pokemon games, Super Mario 64, etc. I've been meaning to play Driver San Fransisco as well. You can get the games at such a discount, and they are still amazing.

I find them to be almost unplayable after playing things like BG3. I just can't do the real time combat, it feels so terrible. You can pause, sure but it's not nearly the same.

I tried playing BG1 I just... couldn't get past that.

I only just found out right, like this very instant, about the upcoming 40k Rogue Trader and i'm stoked to play it.

It also kind of boggles my mind that Warhammer, of either flavor, doesn't have much in the way of RPG's.

Project Zomboid devs are in a bit of trouble, although 99% of the game community are brainwashed zombies themselves.

Tl;Dw
Zomboid devs haven't actually polished anything in the game, it has an illusion of being full of mechanics but none of them actually function.
Zombies themselves don't actually work either, and this has been the case for over 2 years, when modders brought this up to the developers the developers denied there was any issues with the game and banned multiple users for being upset over this fact.
So now development is intending on adding. *checks notes* Deers and cows?
I should stress such an addition would be far less interesting than simply fixing what is already in the game, and adding this crap would take far longer.

You just know the industry is dying and creatively bankrupt when every second game is a remake, reimagining, remaster or some other 're'.
God, imagine if every second game for the PS1 was some sort of Crash Bandicoot ripoff.

Dude, we just got a dlc for the 8th game, which was released in 2021. We know who the next game is going to focus on even, Ethan's daughter will be the MC.

Lay off.

Oh great, very healthy industry when it's all sequels and DLC. XDD

Look if the Cinemas were playing Jaws 20: The bonus ending, we'd be saying Cinema is about dead. Heck, people are already saying it because capeshit went on for too long.
