Hopefully it is not hot garbage.

I can't attest to the quality of the gameplay but watching the introduction to Dead Island 2 is making my brain melt with how stupid it looks.

And by 'It' I'm referring to the playable characters.

I get it takes place in California which is basically a degenerate wonderland already but out of the six characters, only one and a half of them seems to be the least bit remotely relatable in a normal sense of the word. The rest are a pageantry of the transmundane.

Maybe the gameplay is amazing but I just recall the first Dead Island trailer was amazing with the emotional resonance it had with the family being attacked in the hotel room and had some pretty interesting game moments and plot beats. This looks like it somehow got infested with all of the over stylish and garish nonsense and visual noise and bad, excessive humor that populates lots of popular media now.

Though the gore and physics look nice. (y)

Anyone seen this yet?

as matter of fact I did saw something related to it yesterday. Yours truly probably won't see a gaming laptop that can run it before the end of the year and stick with my 6 year laptop (probably gonna become 7 before I afford a new one).

On a different topic, Flashgitz made a new video about gaming :

Random trivia I suppose.

Half Life: Alyx, one of the first if not thee first Triple A game released exclusively for VR back in 2020 by Valve used the same light flickering code utilized by the classic FPS shooter Quake which was released by id Software way back in 1996.

This is thanks to 1998 Half Life's 'Goldsrc' engine which was built upon the Quake engine and itself later evolved into the Source engine which has gone through much evolution which means bits of that original Quake engine were still being used by Valve over twenty years later and will likely show up in future Valve releases, like the long planned Counter-Strike 2 upgrade using the Source 2 engine for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
