This is completely untrue. The most important thing that a Republican speaker does is block Democrat bills from being voted on. With margins as thin as they are in the house the left might be able to pass all sort of horrible legislation with only a few Republican defectors.Let's be honest here though; there is no appreciable difference between a Republican controlled House, and a Democrat controlled one. The Republicans controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency for the first two years Trump was in office, and they accomplished nothing. The Democrats, meanwhile, mostly ended up getting what they wanted anyways during that period; with their only opposition being Trump himself. So if we do end up with a Democrat speaker as a result of this, nothing will change; because McCarthy is a Democrat in all but name.
Amnesty, gun control, and nationalizing elections could all be on the table if the Democrats take the house. And it's entirely possible for some of those things to pass in the senate.
Not to mention all of the inquires into Joe Biden's corruption that would stop just as they were starting to gain traction.
Maybe ousting McCarthy might be useful if we had another twenty seats in the house, but we don't. Instead all we'll get are weeks of Republicans thrashing around and fighting each other while they should be working on a plan to avert a government shutdown. Which would ruin our chances in the upcoming Virginia state elections and possibly lose the house in 2024.
