No this is a bad idea. You can't cobble anything together while groups are trying to destroy everything and even among the right you have a herd of cats. The only thing to do is either let someone else alter the culture, or wait until everything has burnt down and rise from the ashes. The second option sounds similar to what Cherico talks about you have to let things keep going till it can't go anymore.

The west is currently in the process of collapsing into empire, which from the view of history is always an ugly horrible process. The best days of the west are however ahead of it, but when this is over the west will be burned out on social experiements of all kinds.
