Also, from what I have seen at my current position, milley seems to be playing politics in the sense he is appeasong the left with words but not actions

Because remember, he knows majority combat arms are conservative Trump Voters. Some of his best officers, Trump voters.
Doesn't matter, Zach will keep defending the military, brass, and IC, with only the 'bad apples' getting any critique, and he will never acknowledge the systemic level of rot has reached in the armed forces.
And perfect example 'Oh it was just out of context, or he didn't really mean it' excuse for why his superiors probably view him as a potential enemy, not an asset.
Because bacle, I know how the military works and ways we find to get what we need for various things.
If Milley didn't do all this stuff, do you think he would stay chairman? Do you think we would get the focus on fighting China and Russia?
If Milley's the only thing keeping the military focused on those threats, and is just saying this stuff to retain his position, that says that most of his underlings are more focused on the 'domestic extremism' bit that they've been harping on.
Which doesn't make the military seem any better.
You keep acting like deflecting and going 'well, whatabout' in your excuses for why the military and brass are doing the 'right thing' on any given criticism of the military.
I mean half the time I wonder if your real job isn't to be a shill and propagandist for the military.
Bacle, I am in one of the few enlisted branches that take a look at more then a small area.
He isn't the only one, but he is leading the charge in focusing on our adversaries. To know what can destroy your force and learn FROM it is a valuable skill
The adversaries we are preparing for, one of them will gladly kill all of us non commies.

The military wants to focus on what DIVIDES US TO MAKE SURE IT DOESNT DO THAT.
As the leader is spouting rhetoric that divides us....

In the armed forces, officers have to be ready for political bullshit once they reach field grade, Especially COL and above. Lip service is key

They were defeated because they fought conventionally.
After the 2014 Mosul blitzkrieg, ISIS got cocky and decided they could challenge us conventionally. And honestly, they had every right to think that way.
You guys took 10 years to train up a new Iraqi army and it crumpled in less than a week against a tiny enemy force. Fall of Mosul - Wikipedia
And the Trump went and bombed them into a pulp. ISIS is still around, but they've gone back to being a insurgent force.
Same thing in Afghanistan. Taliban initially went conventional then got beaten, so they went back to their old game of insurgency.
Once they went back to insurgency, rooting them out became near impossible with the stupid ROE enforced on our forces.
And then the casualties started piling up.
You didn't let them survive. They survived by switching back to their old game of insurgency, dispersing their forces, planting IEDs, conducting ambushes.

He's more than paying it lip service lol. He's well over the minimum level of wokeness the system accepts.
But the thing is if everyone is "paying it lip service" than that's the culture, you're selecting for people who more than pay lip service.
