Which makes these experments weird to me. If they want to prove how gender sterotypes are societal they just need to point to history. This just seems like mad science crap
Uh, the other way around, actually. If gender was nothing but a social construct, then that kid would have went along with being a girl, because that's how he was socialized. The fact this didn't work proves that isn't the case.
"Gender stereotypes" are not culturally universal in their specifics, but some patterns of them are very similar across 99.9% of cultures.
Of course material item associations with gender roles have to vary, some cultures at some times just simply didn't have the stuff, or in some cases had practical reasons or alternatives invalidating certain setups.
Speaking of high heels and make up, that one isn't even the past.
Plenty of men, especially shorter public figures, wear heels or more subtle alternatives of the same purpose.
And its not just actors, politicians do it too, for the same reason they used to.

Same goes for make-up, same reasons. Of course both in the past and now it is different kind of it.
But, say, if you go to fighting, that is generally limited to support roles and/or situations of desperation or easy opportunity. Hell, we even had cases of ISIL female fighters, and we all know that is despite this bunch being on the extreme of Islam in regard to gender matters.
Gender roles are part of cultures that have developed as such over millenia, beginning long before first civilizations and written sources, mostly from experience and observation of biological differences between men and women.
If the differences didn't exist, the very concept of gender roles as we know them would not exist. These two can be theoretically separated, but in practice it is futile, because in 99% of cases these two are in agreement, and the rest are more or less arguably medically distinguishable exceptions.
That is just plain scientific ignorance in the realm of biology.
These differences in areas big and small, significant and not, are so numerous that many people have made scientific careers studying them.

My wife was a tomboy when she was young. She cut her hair short, wore pants, didnt wear makeup or dresses was interested in cars and softball. At no point did she suffer from any kind of disphoria or think she was a boy. When she got older, she feminised, grew her hair longer, began to wear makeup etc etc. If she grew up now, she would be groomed and pressured into transitioning when she was 12.

ok look, to be utterly frank does the 99.999999% of us does it really matter? Are we going to start flogging woman that like to fight until they learn to fit the biological norm? Lock up a guy because he's not chock full of the testosterone like his peers? The issue seems to be that people on the left can't tell the difference between an innie and an outie.
Yes. It is so common that if you ask that, it only proves you aren't noticing it.
We're generally not going to be boxing, wrestling or otherwise fighting them because this is the very reason why sports where relevant characteristics are affected much by sexual dimorphism are sex segregated.
And that goes into the other stupid ideas the left gets from ignoring these differences. If a guy is "not chock full of testosterone" he may fail his physical tests when trying to join the army or firefighters and no one complains, except perhaps that specific guy, that's what these tests are for after all. But if vast majority of women fail these tests for similar reasons, the left throws a fit over the sexism inherent in the tests and require them to be changed to something that will provide more equal results or scrapped.
And physical differences are only the tip of the iceberg of political/cultural drama about this - the cognitive differences are the remaining part of it. If by some magical means such knowledge became universally known and accepted, that day would be the Hiroshima of political feminism.

AFAIK she wasn't fighting in male division. This stuff is the very reason for women's sports existing, and related to that, the whole transgender sport debate.

Because this specific group of wackos is not an independent one. Through a web of political, personal and ideological connections, in this specific case feminism, and the progressive left in general. There is little to no chance that either of these would seriously consider fully separating themselves from the other, as the belief in theory of "everyone is the same and statistical inequalities in end results should be considered as conclusive evidence of malicious -isms that need addressing through increasingly heavy handed means until equal results are achieved" is a fundamental part of the worldview shared around that particular part of political spectrum.
So in other words, you have asked "why can't we just ignore feminism and all of its political allies?"

Tyson Morlock was interviewed a day before his death regarding a pop-up swimming pool.

Tyson Morlock, a Homeless Advocate who set up an above ground pool for Homeless people to keep cool during the Heat Wave (using an Overpass Fire Hydrant) in Portland was apparently stabbed to death by one of said Homeless. Police were able to find said man but apparently won't be charged (probably due to mental illness)
